After reading about the Nike Controversy and the “in Praise of Sweatshops” article of individuals personal stories of work conditions at sweatshops in third world countries, it made me sick. It’s rather unfortunate that most people do not know about how their favourite brand shoes, clothing’s are produced and also the work conditions of people who manufacture them. If only people had an idea about these workers and how they are striped off their rights and paid so little for doing so much; for example most Nikes consumers were not aware about the poor working conditions of those 300 workers who were killed in the building that collapsed in Bangladesh due to the negligence of their employers. I think it is unfair to allow a young child to work in factories that are not even safe and for make them work longer hours with a pay of little or nothing, also abuse them while on they are job and deprive them from taking breaks is totally against the human rights law. What is been done to these people must be abolished because an average person in the western world who works for a minimal wage is not even content with their salary what more of the poor people work conditions and horrible bosses the poor children and women deal have to with every day. I think there should be a law for companies’ full disclosure of how their goods are manufactured and also I would encourage consumers to do a research on these big corporation’s before buying their products. There should also be groups to raise awareness concerning the issue to fight for these poor workers’ rights instead of ignoring the problem and keep buying their products. If consumers boycott companies that use sweatshops that treat their workers unfairly and patronize companies the respects human rights and pay their employees fairly like an average worker in a western
