Nicole’s First Narrative I could hear the clicking of a computer as I groggily walked downstairs to the kitchen. My dad was working at home this morning. He asked if I wanted a cream cheese bagel or something new. I’m not a bagel person so I asked for something new. Turns out it was still a bagel, but a bagel with toasted cheese and pastrami is still way better than cream cheese. My dad turned on the stove and started his new bagel "creation.” Tired, I leaned agi, but super excited. It was nice to be able to cook on the first day, I could take my mind off of things. They’re harder, but still fun. Most of these jobs were not available today. The bagels we were making didn’t need much preparation like that. I still love cooking, and I learn a lot from helping my dad cook too. I jumped at the chance to help today, even though I was still groggy. Not used to being alone in the mornings, I didn’t feel quite right. Still, today was starting out great, I just hoped it stayed that way. First came the cheese, my dad grabbed the bag from next to him. He took two handfuls of shredded cheese for two piles, starting to melt them in the pan. As soon as the touched the pan, they started to heat up. A sizzling sound filled the quiet kitchen. Listening, I waited to start my day with my favorite part, breakfast. Breakfast is my main motivator in the mornings and gives me energy to get ready. It's hard to get up from under my soft blanket, and out of my comfy bed. The only thing that can get me out is hunger, and the promise of food downstairs. In the mornings I'm always so tired, which might have been one of the reasons I couldn't get out of bed. But with a nice breakfast cooking, I am almost ready to start my day. My mouth was already watering, just watching the cheese sizzle. In the mornings, I'm not usually hungry. Standing behind the stove, I was ready to help, and definitely ready to eat. I watched as the piles of cheese continued to melt into a melted mess splattered inside the pan.
