In 1920, Andrew Rube Foster created the Negro League which was a baseball league started in New York City. Andrew Rube Foster explored ways for the blacks to have the same opportunities as whites. This not only impacted baseball, but also segregation in America.This League was made to give blacks more opportunities to get into Major League Baseball. Legacy on the Negro League made baseball not segregated and more diverse in today’s baseball. The first game of baseball ever recorded officially was on June 19, 1846 in Hoboken New Jersey. African Americans started playing baseball in the late 1800’s. The League begins on 1920 on May 2 with these teams: Chicago American Giants, Chicago Giants, Dayton Marcos, Detroit Stars, Indianapolis ABCs, Kansas City Monarchs and Cuban Stars. The Negro Southern League begins play in the South. League cities include Atlanta, New Orleans, Chattanooga, Memphis, Nashville and Birmingham. Nashville Giants owner, Thomas Wilson, serves as league president. Ed Bolden owner of the Hilldale Club and Nat Strong Brooklyn Royal Giants owner of the Eastern Colored League. The team league begins its season with the Brooklyn Royal Giants, Hilldale Club, Bacharach Giants, Lincoln Giants, Baltimore Black Sox and Cuban Stars. The first Negro World Series is played between the Kansas City Monarchs and the Hilldale Club. Kansas City goes on to win the series. The stock market crashed and the Great Depression started in America. The Negro League gets into trouble with financial costs. Negro National League founder Rube Foster dies after years of hospitalization. The Negro American League is formed. The new league brings together the best western and southern teams. The NAL begins its season with seven team starting with the Kansas City Monarchs, Birmingham Black Barons, Detroit Stars, Memphis Red Sox, Cincinnati Tigers, Chicago American Giants, Indianapolis Athletics and St. Louis Stars.The Homestead Grays begin there 9th year as the champions of the Negro National League with the power-hitter Josh Gibson and Buck
