Lower Socioeconomic Status and The Impact on Children Synthesis It is evident that we live in a society with a great diversity in individual socioeconomic status. Noticeably, we can simply look around our communities and/or neighborhood and visually see this diverseness. More importantly, children who come from a family who are socioeconomically dependent are at a greater risk for having significant health issues and/or other related social problems, if there are no early interventions and/or supports put in place. In stating this fact, these socioeconomic dependent individuals will have an extensive impact on the Canadian health care system. Behavioral outcomes of those who come from a lower socioeconomic status are greatly affected by that of varying degrees of health shocks such as mental health, crime, addiction, and trauma. Research has suggested that the majority of health shocks individuals had experienced were a result of those who were exposed to such health shocks themselves at a younger age (Covey, Menard, & Franzese, 2013, p. 85). Furthermore, emphasizing in particular that individuals with a lower socioeconomic status have increased problems in achieving economic success, causing self-frustration also affecting one 's self-esteem (Agnew, Matthews, Bucher, Welcher, & Keyes, 2008, p. 160).
