A toxic leader is a person that is responsible for individuals within an organizations that abuses his or her leadership by leavings the organization in a worse shape than what he or she found it in. A textbook definition of toxic leadership is “is a combination of self-centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance; this leader lacks concern for others and the climate of the organization, which leads to short- and long-term negative effects.” A toxic leader lacks the skills to effectively promote positive change throughout and organization and are stiff and unyielding. They are ineffective people who are not willing to adapt to innovation, new information, or even time changing. Many toxic leader are very intemperate, in say that they lack self- control in certain situations and are followed by people are either too scared to confront them of their deficiencies or are unable to effectively intervene. Toxic leaders expect others to quietly follow them without questioning their decision making. The demeanor of a toxic leader highly favors an individual that in unapproachable; they may appear irritable and do not want to be bothered. They neglect to do a self-assessment; if they did a self-evaluations, their empowerment would not come from criticizing others. Also if they conducted a self-evaluation, they would not set unrealistic expectation for the organization; ones that are unachievable and the organization struggle to fulfill.
