It does not matter where people come from, where they live, or their race they will always be judged by others causing someone with pride to feel shame. There are many occasions in which people feel desperation because they don't like where they come from. Others judge them because of their origin. Some people do not care what others say, they love their native community and will not leave their living area because they feel they belong there. In “Invasion” by Benjamin Percy he shows his anger towards others that come to his native town in Bend, Oregon because he feels some sort of invasion causing his town to become transformed by others. In “The Barrio” by Robert Ramirez he describes his barrio colorful meaning every house has it's own story and he would not leave his barrio for any reason because he loves it. As a child you do many things that are horrible but you do them because you either do not care or do not know the consequences to their actions. Percy was a teen who lived in Bend, Oregon and he was happy to live there. He started to see people from California, Seattle, and Portland come to his town which he felt they were invading his territory. Percy and his friends would do many bad things to the rich people because they hated them and wanted them out. Bend was a place where there was a lot of empty land usually grass field. “ When I go back to Bend now, I don't recognize it. I get lost driving around. There are roads where there were none before. There are roundabouts where there were once intersections. Acres of sagebrush have given way to big box stores”. Percy left Oregon for a long time, but when he came back he saw something he had never expected to occur. As he drove around Percy got lost because this was a new... ... middle of paper ... ... never want to leave South Central because I feel comfortable were I live. It does not matter where you come from you should always feel proud of where you came from and not let anyone put you down because everyone has a different story. Like in “The Barrio” Ramirez explains how he does live in a bad environment but at the same time he loves the Barrio because there is many things that cause him and the neighborhood to be united as a family. In “Invasion” Percy says how much he cares about his town and he would protect it from others wanting to try to transform it but when he leaves everything changes and when he comes back he is ashamed of what it has become because he cared a lot for his town. If you are ever told that the place or race you come from is not worth anything or that it is a horrible place ignore them and feel proud of your native community and race.
