INTRODUCTION
With the dawning of the information age there has been a shrinking of relative distances between people and places all over the world. With an increase in international communication comes an increase in cultural sharing. Cultures all over the planet reflect influences of neighboring cultures and other international trading partners. As these and many other factors work towards creating a global village many people are baffled by the increase in nationalism. Nationalism is a highly emotional phenomenon and as such is very unpredictable. Nationalism is far beyond its peak and the current rise is likely only an indicator of the transitional stage of globalization.
GLOBAL VILLAGE
Today it is common to here the term "global village" used in every day conversation. It is also common to here someone say, "What the hell is the global village?" The global village is the idea that the world and its people form an interconnected social whole, a village of common interests and concerns, linked by global communication, media, and rapid international transportation.
The global village has emerged via the birth of the information age. Technological advances have continually stretched the bounds of our communication abilities and by using improving cellular phone technology or the Internet any individual can interact with another individual from a completely different culture. Since it is so easy and affordable to engage in these cross-cultural experiences, more and more people have been doing so. Cross-cultural exchanges often rise from or result in common interests or concerns developing. For example, international companies have a vested interest in the economies of the various countries in which they conduct business. The stronger the economies the better business will be. This is the sort of common interest and concern that the global village encompasses.
All cultures are continually evolving and the information age has increased the ability of one culture to influence another culture. As all cultures begin to adopt features of other cultures the population of the planet begins to develop a homogenous culture. Recognition of this global culture is what led to the belief that a global village exists.

Nationalism occurs when a nation wants to unify into one, or is owned by another large empire, they all band together to defeat, and fight for their freedoms. Wanting freedom, and your own culture, ethnic and religious group many nations feel that it’s significant that they have to represent themselves in government. Nationalism often encouraged feelings of hate for the group in control, Father Miguel Hidalgo grew support for a revolution against Spain, and they fought against the Spaniards, they want to recover the lands stolen by them, and kill the enemies of the rebellion (Doc 8)
Many people might have a diverse opinion on the extend of the American cultural influence on Canada, but the truth is, these two countries share a long common border, they use frequently the same language, they watch the same movies, listen to the same music and collaborate on other numerous levels, including economic and political activity. In this paper, I would like to show the extent of the influence on Canadian popular culture that comes from the United States. For my analysis I have chosen four segments of popular culture: television, printed media, music and films. In these are the main sectors where we can see the biggest evidence of this phenomenon. In the first part I would like to shortly introduce the history of this issue. The second part is the analysis of the four sectors.
Nationalism at its core is the support of a country. The goal of a country is to have some sort of resonance within the individuals that reside there that call themselves citizens. If the citizens don’t feel any connection with their country, they may move to find one that they feel closer too. Once found, they may support the country over others, defend it within conversations of politics or just find groups that have the same ideals they do about the country. This papers purpose is to illustrate the pros of nationalism as well as its cons.
...s about their 'imagined community' and 'imagined image' make up their identity. These differences would not exist without their narcissistic imaginations that inevitably form fictions from history. But, because of their refusal to recognize the other group's relational differences, major differences rise from their actions. Nationalism's depends on these imaginations; it uses the group's self-love to stake their claim in history, narrate it in their narcissistic discourse, and blind members from relational differences that would weaken their identity as a group.
Nationalism has played a crucial role in world history over the past centuries. It continues to do so today. For many, nationalism is indelibly associated with some of the worst aspects of modern history, such as the destructive confidence of the Napoleon’s army and the murderous pride of Nazi Germany. Large numbers of people, descent in their hearts, have carried out unbelievable atrocities for no better reason than their nation required them to. Authoritarian and totalitarian regime have crushed dissent, eliminated opposition, and trampled on civil liberties in the name of the nation.
Globalization is a trend that continues to advance and create a smaller world. This interaction and integration of global communities and economies has opened up new possibilities and has created many opportunities that once were not possible. Many of these possibilities have been positive, like free trade, global economic growth, an influx of integrated information, cultural intermingling, etc. Proponents of the globalization movement argue that it has the potential to make the world a better place to live and solve many deep-seated problems (Collins, 2015). However, globalization in and of itself has created problems or assisted in the advancement of problems that once were local to being a global problem. One of these consequences is human
Globalization is not a new concept, but has a history that stretches thousands of years, starting from the second half of the 20th century when trade wall was pulled down, and eventually developing into the global interconnected societies of today. Generally, according to Globalization101.org, globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations. With the rapid development of globalization, it’s common to see that people everywhere are drinking Starbucks, eating McDonald’s, and watching Hollywood movies. Globalization, in brief, makes the whole world a small village. Although some people argue that globalization contributes to cultural diversity, there are three reasons why a global monoculture is a more widespread consequence of globalization.
“The world is a global village”, is a metaphor that was coined by the Canadian scholar Marshall McLuhan to describe the perceived experience of a smaller world resulting from the effects of modern technology, faster communication and improved transportation, despite geographical boundaries (1). The various processes that have produced this phenomenon can be called globalization. There are many definitions of the term globalization; Delbruck 1993 defined globalization as "a process of denationalization of markets, laws and politics, in the sense of interlacing people and individuals for the sake of common good"(2). Fidler 1996 aptly described globalization as a complex process of, “political and economic intercourse between different sovereign states” on the premise that such interdependence will result in states being better off and as such building stability, peace and order in the international scenario(3). Globalization has resulted in a gradual erosion of the traditional distinction of national and international activities through political, social and economic interaction between different countries, leading to a fusion or overlap of domestic and foreign policies(4). However, globalization differs from internationalization, the latter referring to a process where each country attempts to fulfil their national interest by co-operating with other countries in areas where they are incapable of achieving desired outcomes on their own(3) . Its key points are co-operation between states, while preserving sovereignty. Globalization on the other hand entails co-operation and undermines the sovereignty of nations.

For Globalism and Local Cultures, Globalism is a social condition that when people over the world share a homogenous, culture and form a “global village” by the means of electronic communications and mass media. However, the author pointed out the difficulties in defining both “culture” and “local”. For “culture”, instead of the traditional definition, the more recent one – “Culture is a set of ideas, reactions, and expectations that is constantly changing as people and groups themselves change” would be adopted by the
The term globalization is one that is an exceptionally wide-ranging term and it is used to explain a wide variety of definitions. Many people link the term globalization with the how the world is connected on an international and a local scale. One example of this is how Inda and Rosaldo illustrate globalization as being in “a world full of movement and mixture, contact and linkages, and persistent cultural interaction and exchange” (Inda and Rosaldo 4). On the other hand, they also imply that although movement and connections are prime components of globalization, disconnection and exclusion also form globalization (Inda and Rosaldo 30). Global flows of economic and social structures are not fluid and constant; they have the power to exclude and immobilize as well as enhance movement and include certain beings. In the 60s, the term `global village' was used by Ma...
A question raised here that why we called the world as a Global Village or what does Globalization mean in real? If we look few years back, I was very difficult for people to get them connected or make contact with their dear ones who lived in far areas, people just knew about the famous food of any country but didn’t have availability to have it. People didn’t get full information of any news at the time, what’s going on other countries; they didn’t have any access to make them updated with all this stuff. But now a day, the scenario gets change with the help of new scientific inventions in media sector. Communication is one of the basic elements which play an important role in flourishing the process of globalization in all over the world. Technology is the basic extension of increasing communication at same time in different places. Technology eliminates the concepts of space and distance; it becomes easy for anyone to get connected with anyone at any corner of world through using internet, social websites and technological tools. New inventions in communication and media
