Basic Information on the Organization
The organization that I choose to write my Organizational Paper on is the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA). The IPRA is a professional association that represents over 50,000 members. The members include everyone from directors, agency superintendents, and volunteers. The IPRA also works with a large group of professional partners.
The mission statement of the NRPA is: To advance parks, recreation and environmental conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people.
The NRPA has many resources at its disposal. The biggest and most important is the knowledge they have on the environment. With a goal of educating people on healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardships, knowledge is the most important resource in fulfilling this mission. This is also a resource that will never run out. Organization members are passionate about what they do and are always continually learning. Another resource they have at their disposal are the parks themselves. Through conservation and sustainable practices, they are able to be involved in environmental stewardship. This resource is threatened everyday with climate change as well as the ever-growing United States population and expanding cities through the country.

The NRPA has to fight both for and against legislature that affects its everyday mission. Some of the pieces of legislation include protecting tax policies that support outdoor recreation and conservation. As well as the Personal Health Investment Today Act which includes physical activity as a preventative medicine and uses pre-tax dollars to include expenditures such as gym memberships, adult and youth sports fees as well as exercise classes. The National Park Service is a United States federal government agency that manages all of the United States national parks and many national monuments. In addition to the parks and monuments the National Park Service manages other conservation and historical properties throughout the country. The National Park Service is tasked with preserving the historical and ecological integrity of the properties it is in charge of managing, as well as making sure these properties are available for full public use.

Second I think it is important to keep our national parks open to the people but this has shown the need to protect them to a point so our children and grandchildren can enjoy these National Parks in the future. Third, It is nice to see that the case studies go on. Without this research we would not have a direction to go although expensive, I think it is well worth it. The research needs to be compiled correctly by professionals and have no bias or slanted opinions contaminate the overall conclusion to the study.

She was rumored to have been a prototype for the Gone with the Wind character Scarlett O' Hara1. His father was Theodore "Thee" Roosevelt, Sr. who was of Dutch heritage. His family owned a successful plate-glass import business.
.... This gives me motivation to do well in school and take opportunities like this so that one day I'll be able to pay back all he and my mom have done for me. Another reason is this will be fantastic for my future. Being in this would be very good for getting into an illustrious high school and that leads to a great college. Although I am not sure what I will be when I grow up, I know that whatever I am, I will put the things I know now and the things I have yet to towards it and will help the world in someway. The final reason I want to be in this group is for the experience. Being a part of this would make me a part of something prestigious and just the thought of that makes me happy.
The creation of the computer and the Internet has significantly furthered and revolutionized Parks and Recreation Districts across the country. Parks and Recreation Management is a profession that has been able to prosper with the Internet and personal computers today. Recreation in the present day is becoming especially popular due to a general decrease in working hours because of the economy. With many people having more free time, more demands are put on the Parks and Recreation districts. Also with the many national, state, and private parks in the United States, it is crucial for the park systems to have a systematic approach to dealing with these new demands. The computer and Internet has become the answer to this problem.
Since its creation in 1916, the National Park Service (NPS) has had to balance between its two goals, which are to preserve wilderness and nature and to provide the public with access to these wonders in a monitored environment. These two goals tend to create a conflict for the NPS because as soon as one goal is given more priority than the other, the administration of national parks is harshly criticized by the public. The accusation that by allowing people to experience the wilderness, the NPS is corrupting the natural environment is very common, as well, as the criticism towards the lack of government funding to preserve nature and history. The documentary “The National Parks- America’s Best Idea” explained the history of national parks and how they came to be. Monuments, battlefields, and military parks were transferred to become national parks. Though they weren’t what they are now at first, they seemed a lot like zoos, focusing on tameness and less on wildness. There is an abundance of life in the national parks, and George Wright tried to let everyone know the equilibrium was out. People were getting in the way of the plants and animals, instead of letting the plants and animals thrive on their own. Each of these species, including the predators should be protected. He saved the trumpeter swans.
They also point out how hunters do more than any other organization for wildlife and the environment. Our country was created by outdoorsmen who hunted and passed their knowledge of the outdoors to their kids. Hunting has worked its way down from the generation and we should learn to “pass it on”. Hunting is great for the environment and wildlife and should be preserved for the ages to come. Hunters are the biggest supporters of conservation financially.
The National Park Service group should have their funds significantly cut by the Federal Government. In today's growing age of technology, there is no benefit aside from personal pleasure to go to national parks, their is also the issue that no one is interested nor has enough time to go to the national parks. The parks are not bringing in as much money as they once were, and the areas that are protected can be used for many more productive means than what they are used for now. Directing the funds allocated to the National Park Services elsewhere, would allow more promising projects to prosper. This change would create jobs, and opportunities for others, encourage people to embrace technology, instead of vilifying them for using it, and then
...faith. Even though my friend lost his battle with esophageal cancer, he raised over $50,000 for the ACS with the help of our community, family, and friends. He wanted to repay ACS for what they did for him and wanted nothing more than to save someone else from what he was had to go through. ACS stayed by his side until the end giving him hope and support, and for that, I feel they are a remarkable organization.
In conclusion, the Sierra Club is a national interest group. Because of a disturbance, leadership and numerous like-minded individuals, the Sierra Club successfully organized in 1892. Taking on roles of representation, participation, education, agenda building and program monitoring, the it owes much of its success to its resources of members, money and lobbyists. As a group, the Club has accomplished much through direct lobbying, grassroots initiatives, high-tech lobbying and coalition building. With the environment being such a debated topic, the Sierra Club is an organization devoted to its preservation.
This is the biggest environmental organization with over three million contributors. Traditionally associated with the progressive movement, the club was one of the first large-scale environmental preservation organizations in the world, and currently engages in lobbying politicians to promote green policies. Recent focuses of the club include promoting sustainable energy, mitigating global warming, and opposing coal. Sierra Club their mission statement is "To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives." (www.sierraclub.org) This club has five reliable goals that are associated with this group. They are too, "achieve ambitiously and just climate solutions; explore, enjoy, and protect our nations lands, waters, air, and wildlife; engage and support a broad, diverse, inclusive, and powerful movement; become an ever stronger, high-performance organization" (sierraclub.org, 2017) They are currently wanting to solve the climate crisis, primarily through a successful transition to a resource-efficient, clean energy economy that better serves people and nature. To secure lands protection for public lands and waters, promote healthy ecosystems and communities, and fight for clean air and water. They also have the ambition to get people outdoors. To build a movement that is diverse and inclusive, that reflects and represents today's American public, and prioritizes important connections between environmental health and social justice (sierraclub.org). Also, when I was a counselor at the Ecotarium in Worcester Massachusetts, my fellow counselors and I tried to show the campers why preserving the environment is so important. We did this by showing them that the vast majority of our resources, including medicine, wood for houses, and food, come from nature. We showed them how fragile many animals are to changes in the environment. Part of Ecotarium is dedicated to rehabilitating and caring for animals that have been injured in the wild. The campers enjoyed working with the animals and began to realize that many of the causes for the displacement of these animals stemmed from the loss of their habitat due to human intrusion. I feel that incorporating the importance of environmental preservation at a young age is crucial because it well help to establish environmentally-friendly habits.
