As a marketing intern for Nasdaq Corporate Solutions, I had a great opportunity to work in thriving business setting that enhanced my management education experience. I learned the various nuances behind a fast-paced company and the values and tasks for a successful internship. I was also able to progress my career and gain insights on what I potentially want to pursue as a future career. Overall, I was pleased with the outcome of the internship because I worked on meaningful projects that added value to Nasdaq’s goals.

It is important to know how to work with others to reach goals and its important to form relationships that go beyond work so that people want to work with you and feel invested in what you do. What worked for me was getting to know people in the office in my first week, everyone was welcoming and that personally made it easier to connect with people on a professional and personal level. I also had the opportunity to go out to dinner with some co-workers after they ran the 5 mile run around the Boston Common. Outside the office, I found it easier to connect with co-workers because I could share my stories and listen to their professional and personal stories in a friendly atmosphere. I learnt a lot about their professional background in terms of how they reached to their current position, some of them were managers, therefore hearing about their path was definitely helpful in terms of having insight of my potential future. One of my task of the internship was to accelerate the lead generation process by forwarding incoming queries about Nasdaq’s Public Relations Services to the appropriate sales representative and by including the people who asked about our products and services to the customer relationship manager. Ensuring that these tasks were completed quickly was critical for the sales department because it allows the company to stand ahead of its competitors in terms of reaching out to customers and persuading them to buy our product and services.
