My involvement in the life of Epiphany Lutheran Church is different than most others. I started attending our church when I was a child. I attended Sunday school every week with my grandmom. I remember being excited to go every week and I always had a lot of fun. I attended church regularly up until I was around ten years old. Since my parents were getting a divorce, it made going regularly difficult. I usually went with my dad and grandmom, but until the divorce was finalized I did not see them as much as I used to. Once, I started seeing my dad weekly again, I visited him two days during the school week. By the time, the weekend and Sunday occurred, I was with my mom again. I have attended a Christian church my whole life. While I have attended various denominations, I have always considered myself to be non-denominational, not favoring one over the other. The only other churches I have ever attended were Catholic; I have had other family members practice this faith and so have always been a guest with them if I have gone and had the services feel fairly familiar. When we were given the project to go and attend a different religion’s church I wasn’t sure what to expect. I decided to attend a Jewish church since Judaism and Christianity believe some of the same fundamentals but are still separated, I thought it would be a good way to learn more about the church as well as be able to relate better to anyone I know who practices Judaism. Also this taught me what it feels like for someone who does not have any experience in church.
In my paper I will talk about my visit to The Community Church at Murphy's Landing (CCML). I have chosen this particular Church because it is a family church type and my neighbor goes there and she encouraged me to go with her. I went there with my neighbor on April 6, 2014.This church is an appropriate for this assignment because the people there are welcoming me with an open heart and they are willing to help and provide me with information. When I visit the Church’s site I read these words “We know visiting a new church can be intimidating. But, we want to help you to be as comfortable as possible when and if you join us”. The people gather in the church weekly to glorify God in joyful worship. The expressions of worship on CCML take many forms a prayer, a hymn of reverent awe, a guitar ringing with a chorus of praise, or a warm handshake and a welcoming smile. Their weekly services begin at 9:30 each Sunday at church. Also, they have weekly podcast if anyone wants to listen online. They have many types of services for parents, kids and students. People at CCML were so friendly; they gather around me and start welcoming me, one by one. People there introducing themselves to me, one after another and provide me with their contact information and help. Then we start talking about the church services and Christianity in particular. The mission of CCML was knowing, growing and loving. They seek to live out our mission by worshipping together as a local community of believers, growing in spiritual maturity through discipleship, education, and small groups, caring for one another within the context of the larger church body and small groups, and Communicating the love of Christ to our world, both through local outreach and global mis...
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
Charles Porterfield Krauth was born in Martinsburg, Virginia on March 17th, 1823. He was the son of the well- known Lutheran pastor Dr. Charles Philip Krauth. Krauth graduated from Gettysburg College in 1839, and at the time his father was the college’s president and he also assisted on the theological faculty of Gettysburg’s Lutheran Theological Seminary. In 1841, he graduated and the following year in 1842 he was ordained. He then served as local pastor in the following places; Baltimore, Shenandoah Valley, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
I will be describing and exploring my first visit to a Catholic Church. I attended Sunday mass with an ambassador in our class, CCC, on April 13, 2014 at noon. The service was actually called Palm Sunday because it is the Sunday before Easter. The service lasted about an hour and a half and took place in the interfaith portable on campus at UCI. I have grown up in a house that is not religious and have not attended a church before. My family’s race is Caucasian and I am independent when it comes to religion. I decided to attend a Catholic Church for my cultural plunge to get the experience and to see what it is like to attend church. I have always listened to my friends tell me they are going to church and that they are this religion. But I have never been able to experience what going to church is like.
For the next couple of years afterward I lived in an apartment with my brother and dad. In sixth grade my dad met Donna. Donna has now been my stepmom for approximately five years. She is thankfully about 100 times better than my last stepmom. Back in 8th grade is where my second major event in my life occurred. My friend invited me to her church. I had never been an avid churchgoer, but I decided to give it a chance. At that point in my life I was going through a difficult time and decided maybe I could benefit from going to church. As my friend Jenni and I entered the hall of the big church, a feeling of apprehension overwhelmed us. Our feelings were soon comforted when we entered a sea of smiling faces and outstretched hands. A sense of belonging engulfed us. Ms. Shirley, an older colored woman was first to extend her arms. She did not know us from Adam, but it did not matter. She threw her arms around us. "You girls have the prettiest smiles", she declared. "I am so glad you came to be with us this morning." Words can not describe what the act of kindness did to our feelings of apprehension, and that was just the beginning.
For my observation trip, I decided to visit St. Ignatius Church in Oregon, Ohio. I visited a mass at 11:30 on Sunday November 19. I decided to visit a catholic church because my family has no religious background whatsoever, and I decided that I could go with one of my good friends that way if I need to ask questions, she was there to answer them for me.
For as long as I can remember, I have been attending the Immanuel Lutheran Church. As I was growing up, my mom was big on attending church every Sunday. If we would miss a service or we would be gone, she would make up for it! My mom would grab the children’s Bible and activity book and we would have our own Sunday school lesson. I loved listening to my mom read my favorite Bible stories. If we were on vacation, we would attend our relatives’ churches. Attending church from child years to teen years and then on to adult years has been very important. The stories that I got to listen to were wonderful, but the lessons I learned were absolutely incredible. The people and the lessons can teach a person a lot about who he or she is and who he or she can be. It helped me find who I am and who I want to become as an adult. There are important reasons why we choose to attend church as a family. There are also many effects that come from the great experience. Attending church since I was little helped me become the strong, absolute person I am today.

My family has a tradition that we pull names every year around Christmas time. We have a certain day and time every year that we meet up and pull names for gifts. Pentecostal has been a part of my life every sense I was born. My mother has all always kept me in the church. Every day I use to complain about going to church and why was it so important to go. After I got older it became very clear to me that being Pentecostal or any other type of region was to be close to God. It was a safe haven too many and it was important to know just how much we was loved by God. Having his holy spirit was truly the only way to eternal life. As Christians we are given the duty of preaching God’s Word to all and to extend the knowledge of salvation to the expansions of the Earth. We are taught to be pure examples and to avoid and rebuke all forms of evil. Knowing this to be our calling, how to stories fit into this picture? I believe that stories play an important role in our role as Christians in the following ways: to communicate the Gospel, to rebuke evil, and to enjoy God’s creation. However, although stores are an important aspect of the Faith, they come with a warning and a few challenges to overcome. They can be useful if used correctly, but they have the potential to lead to sin.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss a service that I got to attend that was different from my own religious tradition. I decided to go with my chosen topic because to be honest I had never experienced or thought to experience a different type of church service other than the one I grew up in. I grew up in a Christian home and attended a non-denominational Christian church on a regular basis. I just never felt the need to experience something that was different. So I decided to attend a mass at a Catholic church. I had been to weddings in a Catholic church and even funerals with a Catholic involvement but not an actual mass.

Faith is increased every Sunday and the Bible is even reflected on heavier Wednesday. Word Church is more then just a big grey, white, and red building, on the corner of Britain Road, with a big W symbol on the side. My church is a hospital, in the middle of a slowly dieng area. Previously dispositioned as an old furniture store, I am currently a member of, the newly remodeled Word church Akron. This was not my first church I attended, however it is the building block of my faith in Christianity . During the foundation of my childhood, I had my first experience with religion, at catholic and Pentecostal churches
