I was 12 years old when I started to feel intense discomfort in my left knee. After every baseball game I played, my knee would swell up and become as stiff as a rock. I quickly talked to my parents and they took me straight to the doctors. The doctor told me that my knee required surgery to return to 100%. All I could remember was wanting to play with my teammates. So I told my parents that I wanted to play through the pain. However, I only got through one game until my parents saw enough and forced me to get surgery. At this time, I was very upset with my parents because all I cared about as a 12 year-old boy was sports. So the day came and I had surgery on my left knee. We ended up losing in the playoffs and I played again the next season, but after the following season I realized that I still had not recovered anywhere close to 100%. I went from being the fastest player on the field to an average player. On top of that, my knee was just as swollen as before and I picked up a bad limp because of the scar tissue that gathered up in my knee over time. I found that the cause of this was because I hadn’t attained full range of motion before getting back on the field. However, what hurt me the most was when I overheard my Dad talking about how hard it was to watch me run because my limp was so bad. So I decided that I wanted to get a second surgery, so I could return to normal. After the first surgery, I was really angry because no one ever told me about full range of motion or that I could get scar tissue and lose muscle. This time around I wanted to make sure that I would return stronger than before. Subsequently, I did plenty of research on the best way to recover from knee surgeries. I also picked a new surgeon because my first surgery didn’t go as planned and he was kind of a creepy
