Growing up, I practically lived in dress up clothes. I had a wild imagination that would take me on all kinds of adventures. Each day I woke up with the attitude of being able to conquer the world having very little limits in my mindset. I saw a world where the possibilities were endless. This belief often would reflect into my playtime, where I was constantly changing my ideal career path. As the sun’s morning light pierced through my window, I could feel an eager jolt pulling me out of my bed with the desire to begin a new day. A day that I could make anything of. Where I could be the President of the United States collaborating with my country on important topics, an astronaut traveling in unknown space discovering new planets, or a Marine Biologist diving into the depths of the sea. “Cartooning isn’t a way of art. It’s a way of seeing” (McCloud 2). My eyes transformed into camera lenses where I began to see beauty in the smallest of things, wanting to capture the world around me through another angle. I began to take film classes at the Napa Valley College where I was shown how to find the true depth in a film and how to capture its message by using all its components. Gaining more knowledge on film itself; how it has evolved over time, with all its different forms and the power it can have over an audience by spreading a message, grew my love and passion for this medium even more.Film classes provided me with the reassurance that this is a dream worth fighting for. My senior year in high school a requirement to graduate was that you had to complete an internship somewhere, and have 50 hours working there.
