Sikeston girl athletes are not normally recognized for being outstanding in sports for our area. Out of all girls sports at Sikeston High School, the title of District Champions has been received only four times in history and none of them have been in girls soccer. Before this past season, girls soccer was hardly even considered a sport. Really, it was much more. Playing high school soccer taught me essential qualities that I'll need for the next chapter of my life.

Freshman season we unfortunately did not make it past the first round of district games. The team ended the season with a record of nine wins, twelve losses, and two tied games. Sophomore season we lost three of the seniors as well as five other key players from the year before. Our varsity team was made up a team of five freshman, five sophomores, two juniors, and a senior. However, we did gain a new head coach that believed in us individually and as a team. According to him, even though we had an extremely young varsity team, we had what it took to improve from the past season. That year we made it into the championship game of districts which had only been done once before in Sikeston girls soccer history. We earned our way to be the first ever girls soccer district champions and the first ever girls sport sectional champions that Sikeston has ever had. Our team continued on to play in the quarterfinals against a national ranked team that concluded our season. The defense I was apart of also set a school record for girls soccer of ten shut-outs. We ended our season with a record of sixteen wins and eleven
