Throughout the past five years my passion for English literature and writing has been ignited thanks to the many teachers that have guided and introduced me to this intriguing world. Viewing this subject as a necessary evil in the beginning, I am astonished that I have come to say that although time consuming and tedious, I am thankful for everything these courses have provided. My weakness as a writer that I am looking forward to improving, are my grammar skills. There are three pivotal writing experiences that have impacted and shaped me into the writer I am today. Born on April 28th 1928, Harper Lee, grew up in the town Monroeville, Alabama. She was born to Frances Cunningham Finch Lee and Amasa Coleman. As she grew into a mature young woman she soon realized her passion for writing and pursued her dream of creating an iconic novel. Instantaneously successful and thought-provoking, “To Kill a Mockingbird” has gripped the hearts of over thirty million individuals since it entered the literary scene on July 11th, 1960. Inspiringly, Harper Lee saw “To Kill a Mockingbird’” not as a launch into her career or just a novel, but an opportunity to convey a powerful message that demanded recognition. Personally speaking, this masterpiece has strongly impacted my literary walk and forever remain an all-time favorite. Her motivation to write this book was not just a random idea for a story, but it was her calling.
