My Writing Class Reflection

I believe Foundations of Writing has definitely changed my writing for the better. Throughout the course of this class, I have learned so many tips and procedures to better my writing. From the endless comma rules, to the six traits of writing, and everything in between, I think my writing has improved a great deal from the first day of school until now. My expectations for how this class would improve my writing were completely blown away. Looking back at my goals for this class in my introduction essay, I can check every one of them off. Not only has this class fulfilled my intentions of taking it, but it has also given me some new goals for my writing in the future. I have learned so much about sentence fluency, comma rules, word choice, organization, and I think most important, my voice as a writer. This class helped me to find the style of writing I like best and discover how to record my thoughts in a way that makes my writing flow and fit together smoothly. All of these important skills will definitely help me to continue to grow as a writer, especially in college.
The lessons that helped me most in this class were when we learned about the six traits of writing. I liked how we were introduced to each new trait first, and then we were able to practice it. This method of teaching really helped me improve my writing because I was able to see how each one should be used. I also liked how we were given a previous student’s example of each paper. Reading over good examples helped me to understand what the expectations for each assignment were.
