I have always been a careful person with great patience. When facing with complicated cases or challenging projects, I can always calm myself down and find the breakthrough to solve a problem. My carefulness can also help me to detect each flaw in details. Once in a while, I may feel disappointed when I realize my findings turn out to be the opposite of my assumptions. However, I have always enjoyed myself in the exploring process and never will give up. When I experience difficulties, my professors and my classmates offer me valuable help and support, which will help me get back to the right track to move along. The process of exploring the ultimate truth is always the greatest joy that I cherish most, which continuously improves my understanding of what I learn in the classroom and connects the dots in different disciplines.
Numbers are extraordinarily attractive to me, and that is why I am a big fun of mathematics and quantitative analysis. Serving as a math tutor at our university’s Teaching and Learning Center, I not only learned how to facilitate my tutees, but also improved my mathematical skills. Working with my teammates, I actively share my ideas with my team and discuss with them. I always invite and rationally consider challenges to one’s ideas, work hard, and volunteer to lead in projects, and lead meetings effectively. Helping to set and stay focused on team goals, I am able to encourage effective brainstorming within my entire team. Being able to lead and inspire a team to perform their best and strive to achieve goals. I do this through relationship building, being passionate about the goals, and influencing those around me.
When I am at my best. I am able to prioritize with leadership the needs of the people and/or organization that I am working with before mine. I strategically plan to overcome whatever challenge emerges in the developing or planning of a team project. In addition, I am dedicated and positive throughout the entire process. I am able to bring the group’s ideas together in order to meet a common goal without further delays. I tend to be very analytical and purpose oriented. I am not distracted very easily from the main goals and I am very persistent.
Since I was a little girl I’ve always wanted to have my own classroom and teach kids. Most kids avoid school in all ways, but that is where I want to be for the rest of my life. After high school I am planning on furthering my education at a university to become a teacher myself. I’m majoring in Early Childhood Education (grades K-4) and also Special Education.
I desire to continue my education after graduating from State College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, pursuing a master’s degree in elementary education, possibly majoring in science or history. With a teaching profession, the sky is the limit at what can be achieved. Who knows, I may one day change the life of a little person who grows up just like I did, and discovers that THEY TO CAN HAVE IT ALL! A family and a rewarding career in education.
My enthusiasm and the strongly committed teachers I have encountered in my life have attributed to my success in math and science. Prior to going onto ninth grade, my Math classes dating back from middle school were never mentally straining. Becoming a teacher was not something I always knew I wanted. As I approached an age where I really started considering what I would like to do for a career I only knew that I did not want to work in an office behind a desk all day. I wanted a job that would be interactive, challenging and exciting. I also knew I wanted a job that would be important and would somehow contribute to the world in an important way. I thought being a teacher; particularly a teacher in the primary levels would fulfill those hopes and goals assuming I dedicate myself to becoming an effective teacher who has a positive influence on the lives of my students.
It has been my dream to become an elementary school teacher since second grade. I chose to complete my undergraduate degree at The University of Georgia because of their esteemed Early Childhood Education program. At UGA, I worked hard and enjoyed the course work and experience opportunities so much that I finished college in three and a half years rather than the usual four. The next step to build my career as a teacher is to earn a Masters degree from a prestigious graduate school. After completing my undergraduate degrees in my home state, I am ready to explore, branch out, and start new adventures in a new state.
Each member is comfortable in finding their place and can feel a sense of belonging within the team. As a team member, I portrayed the roles of a team player and a researcher. I may not be the brain of the group, but I was very eager to help and became a reliable member that follows-through on tasks to resolve conflicts. Also, I became a researcher too, at some point. I formulated various questions and gathered the information and data from the group. According to Sussex (2013), a researcher “is always asking a question and then finding their own answers.” She also stated in her blog that a team player is someone that the team could rely on because they are eager to help and resolve a conflict in a very calm way. I based my personality as a team member according to her seven types of a well-rounded team member in her blog. Each team member has different tasks to do. In our team, we focused on what the content should be and briefly discussed about the structure of the mind map. My biggest contribution would be completing my task, being creative and being able to contribute purposeful ideas to the team. Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. As an education major at State College, I’ve decided to become a teacher for several reasons. As I progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, many of my teachers were great role models for me. This has inspired me to become a role model for someone in the near future. My love for science and math has also influenced my desire to teach and make a difference in a child’s life. I want to teach students the subjects that I love so much. I want the feeling that I helped a child accomplish or learn something they couldn’t understand. One of the main reasons I want to become an educator is because I feel education has really lost teachers who truly love teaching and those who truly love teaching and those who have the desire to make a difference. In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
A teacher is not what I have always wanted to be. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until I had taken several of my general studies classes that I made a commitment to teach. Having played football through middle school and high school, I just assumed that whatever I did would have to be related to football. It was, however, during a time of reflection that I thought about a former football coach and the rapport that he had with me and other players. He wanted to bring out the best in each of us. It was then that I realized that I wanted to do the same.
Teaching has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl. I have had multiple teachers who have impacted my life in many ways, but the one teacher who has inspired me to pursue a career in the education field as a teacher would be my math teacher that I have this year. She inspires me every day and is truly my role model. I look up to her on a daily basis, and I aspire to become a teacher because of her and how she has changed my life for the better have always appreciated the hard work that teachers do on a daily basis, and I always have appreciated the fact that they take time out of their day to teach their students valuable skills that the students may utilize in the future. Teachers are more than just people who educate students, they are people who continue to make a difference in my life and teach me the value of hard work every day. I know that I really want to pursue a career in the education field as a teacher because I want to help people and share my love of learning with my future students. I also want to become a teacher because I would like to give back to the amazing teachers that I have this year and take what they have taught me and instill that in my future classroom. I realize that teaching is a lot of hard work, but I am willing to give one hundred percent effort on a daily basis so that students can receive a great education that they deserve.
I am so excited about one day teaching our children. My goal is to be a positive influence on a child and I cannot imagine anything more important to do with my life than helping children. A quote from Herbert Kohl sums up my feelings of becoming an educator: “I believe the impulse to teach is fundamentally altruistic and represents a desire to share what you value and to empower others. I am not talking about the job of teaching so much as the calling to teach. Most teachers I know have felt that calling at some time in their lives.” My dream is to someday soon fulfill my calling.
