The front porch of my house was dirty, covered with red mud and the pain was chipping off the floor. So I decided to give it a face lift. This process involved washing and removing the furniture. Scrubbing the chipped paint of the floor. Giving the front porch floor a coat of paint. What I did was clean my porch and paint it. When I washed the porch I had to rinse off all the leaves and pine needles off the porch. Also had to take all the furniture off with all the trash that was up there. How I cleaned the porch was I put Clorox on the ground and got a broom and scrubbed as much as the mud as I could then I dried it off. Kentucky spends about fifteen billion dollars per year incarcerating individuals from Beecher Terrace. Since the 1970’s the number of people locked up in the United States has grown from 300,000 to 2.3 million. Kentucky has been the center of this prison expansion. Charles McDuffie, Christel, Demetria, and Keith Huff all have something in common. Each of these individuals are repeat offenders, grew up or lived in Beech Terrace, and have some type of mental issue.

Sandra Cisneros born on December 20, 1954 grew up in Chicago settling with a neighborhood known with Hispanic immigrants. Until then her migrating with her six brothers, from different communities in Chicago, and visiting her grandmother in Mexico, she has never really make ones home in. Being the only girl with no sisters, Cisneros only way that would deprive her from loneliness, is by reading books where she found her talents in writing. Fast forwarding to college Sandra Cisneros worked on her master’s degree at University of Iowa Writers Workshop where found her interest as Mexican-American woman with a self-reliant passion and how being a Hispanic were different in the American culture.

Most of the time the reason people have yard sales is to either get rid of things, to clean up or organize, or to raise money. Knowing how to prepare a yard sale is very important because every once in a while, it’s good to get rid of some things. Maybe one’s storage space, or home is beginning to get cramped, and she is running out of space, so she needs to sale some of her belongings. One can set up their yard sale many ways. To set up a yard sale, she should clean out her belongings, price her items, and find a place to have a yard sale.
Who does not want a home? A shelter to sleep and a roof to dine under. The American dream is viewed in today’s world as working to make the newest technology and make life as easy as possible. This house embodies that ideal; however, it has turned into the American Nightmare. There is no work needed to be put in by this family to keep the house running. The house is the “human” working. It has taken over the American Dream. The home feels like a human would, but continues its tasks even after a revelation of emptiness. The first thing in building a house is selecting a lot and lot preparation. The land has to be cleared of trees and brush and graded to ensure a level building area. This process is usually called excavating and grading. This is usually a very fast process but can be costly depending on the job.
If I were to start in my kids’ room, which is upstairs, I would gather all my supplies so I wouldn’t have to make numerous trips up and down the staircase. My list of supplies consists of these items: a vacuum, pledge, a dust cloth, window cleaner, paper towels, a hamper or clothes basket, and some extra energy. I start by picking up all the dirty laundry and placing it in the basket or hamper. I also make sure all toys, trash, clothes or whatever else that has been hidden, is out from under the beds and dressers. If there are any clean clothes on the beds or dressers, I take the time to put them in their place, either in the drawers or neatly hung in the closet. I spray the tops of the wooden surfaces with pledge and polish it in a circular motion into the wood with a dust cloth. I like to use a micro fiber cloth because it attracts the dust particles better than a regular cloth. This makes the surfaces shiny, smooth and clean. After the dressers are done, I polish the television and all the electronics that surround it. The windows are next on the check list. Using the window cleaner, I evenly spray one pane of glass at a time. With a paper towel or two, I scrub the glass, making sure to get into the corners and any spots that may be smudged on the surface. I continue this process on each pane that remains.
