All my life, my family has struggled to just get by. If my family was normal, they would be Democrats, but no, they are Republicans. I am the only one in my family whose party matches up with his socio-economic status. Growing up, there was not much money to be spread around. Our family lived paycheck to paycheck, sometimes not knowing if there would be food on the table. For three years, we were practically homeless and struggling to just make it. I have no problem with government programs, and I very much support these programs. I believe that the government should be there to help its citizens, especially if they have come on hard times. A lot of the media I enjoy tends to be leftist, and I am completely okay with that. If given the choice between Fox News and NBC News, I would be more comfortable watching NBC News because their political slant aligns with mine. On the other hand, Fox News tends to have a more right-wing conservative focus on their reporting. Although I do enjoy Fox programming, their news is where I shy away from them. CNN is also another place for me to get my news via television because it also tends to lean a little to the left. At my age, I am rather involved in social media, and that too says a lot about my political socialization. Many younger people also have leftist views, so I would be part of the norm if I as well believe the same things politically. If I were to log onto Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or even Reddit, many of the people I would be involved with would tend to think nearly the same way I do about the country today and all of the hot topics being discussed. The way news and opinions are spread by just a few clicks of a mouse can really influence or support one's views on a subject is quite remarkable, and it helps to keep me informed on what I want to know, and what I need to know.
