My Passion Lies with Dance
Dancing has been a huge learning experience for me and the influence it has had on
my life, I will never forget. I've learned teamwork as well as leadership, and for countless
numbers of hours for 6 years I have spent my days devoting myself to practicing,
perfecting and an open-mind. To me, dance is more than just a beautiful art form. Dance
is a way to communicate with people and it should be respected and honored. I feel it is
beautiful, exciting and inspiring. I can never get bored with it because there is always
room to improve. There can always be more beats, higher jumps and better placement,
among other things. I am showing the world me, and who I am when I dance. Dancing is
power, a prayer, it gives a sense of life.
As a member of a competitive dance team, I understand the importance of
teamwork and leadership. I have come to realize that a team uses cooperative effort to
achieve a common goal. This often requires personal sacrifice. When dancing with other
people, one must respect the value of teamwork, not only amongst fellow dancers, but
with coaches and teachers as well. Each and every practice we worked collaboratively,
dedicated and devoted to our ambition. Our teacher would help us develop our abilities
with elite leadership. Likewise, leadership is necessary to ensure that a team's
accomplishments are not...
With the great collaboration between them, Capital was invented and became one of the most important books in the world. When I have some hard problems, I will collaborate with my friends. It not only saves time, but deeps the friendships between us. The third core value I choose is responsibility. I think responsibility is the basic foundation of collaboration. Without responsibility, it is impossible to collaborate with others. If one person does not take their tasks seriously, then the group cannot get a great outcome. Moreover, responsibility reminds me of my parents, teachers, friends, and teammates, all of them who put high expectations on me. Every time I get lazy or tired, responsibility will motivate me to work. Meanwhile, when I make decisions, what I am responsible for always surrounds me. It enables me to realize the potential consequences and what will be changed due to my decisions. The last core value is family. From many case studies, I find family has a big influence on individuals. As the old saying goes, “parents are the earliest and best teachers.” Parents provided elementary knowledge and shaped children’s minds when they were small. When people grow up, family still has a big influence on them. Many
and in front of the whole school during spirit week and international week, without a bit of apprehension. Gaining this confidence was and is the key to victories in dance competitions. Confidence and my familiarity with a variety of dance forms such as hip-hop, jazz, and several Indian classical dances can be credited to my winning first place in a memorable competition, where, for the first time, my two friends and I choreographed the dance piece that we performed. This experience also helped as the same friends and I had 2 weeks to choreograph, perfect, and perform alongside a famous Indian singer as he sang live. These values specifically pushed me advance further into the art form, and were also extremely useful outside of the dance
And just like regular literacy and language, it modifies and improves throughout the years and as I continue to progress. The more that I practice dancing and the art, the better I will be at it and the more I will learn. I started to learn to dance when I was 4 years old and just like the words I spoke were simple and small, the dance move I knew how to do were the same. Dance classes consisted of pink tutus with canvas ballerina slippers and a whole bunch of hair spray and bobby pins. You could hear the loud classical music being played over the teacher telling us what are 8 count combination was in French. But as I got older and persisted going to practice 3 hours during weekdays and 5 hours during weekends, the more I exceled. I accomplished more advanced dance moves along with better control and technique. But as I got older and went through more things, I realized how much of a language my dancing really was and what I could truly express while doing it and using it to its full potential. I realized that I could use it to recount stories of events I had been through that had affected me and changed who I was. I could use it to bring a certain topic or problem into the light that I might have been going through at the time. And I realized that it would become what I used to help me cope and express myself through my entire life. It helped me express my feelings without having to use
According to Judith Hanna, “dance may promote wellness by strengthening the immune system through muscular action and physiological processes,” which shows that a person can benefit from dancing by allowing the body to do physical exercises which can allow the body to strengthen itself. In order to do this, there are multiple ways in which Judith Hanna focuses in on to show that dance can have a powerful impact on the body. She explains that there are four different ways in which a person can develop a since of control over their body by (1) possession dance, (2) mastery of movement, (3) escape or diversion from stress and pain through a change in emotion, states of consciousness/ physical capability and (4) confronting stressors to work through ways of handling their effects.
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. I developed as a dancer, attending every summer intensive performing in every show, advancing from intermediate to apprentice to junior company and finally to senior company. The dance studio became my second home. I took classes in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz, lyrical jazz, theatrical movement, hip-hop, zumba, and African-Ballet, pointe, contemporary, and lyrical jazz being my favorites. Even w...
Although I am not a great dancer by any means, I learned through my years of involvement in dance that if you want something you should not let any hardships stop you. This message is what helps push me toward success in my educational
Dance is more than time, Space, and energy. People have this perceived connotation that dance is just visual art depicted from movements in the body. This is true that dance is a form of visual entertainment, but when looking at the sociocultural lens, dance has far more reasoning. Whether these reasons were to free oneself from oppression, or creating a community where one felt safe, social dance was a way for people to express emotion and create identity. As social dance evolved, these different cultural identities were exposed to one another.
It will allow me to be a manager and better my leadership skills. I will learn how to manage a big group of people, which is something that can be applied to many various careers. I will learn the best way to be a teacher and to stay calm and focused when things get difficult or crazy. All of these skills are not only applicable to the dance world, but to life in general.
“Hey girl, what are you doing?” “Girl, I’m practicing on this dance. I been dancing and training for hours and hours, I am exhausted. “Although it is not a proven Fact, many people do not consider dancing as a sport, yet serious competitive dancers undergo the same amount of training as competitive athletes in regular sports. This paper will prove that dancing is and can be accounted as a competitive sport. Various opinions have been made due to the weather people think dancing can or cannot be accounted as a sport. In my research paper I am for and do think that dancing is considered as a competitive sport. The interesting idea about dance that I've came across is that it can be many things to many people. Is it a sport? Yes, it can be. Same as Golf can be considered a sport simply because it is a competition. Many Ballroom dancers compete, as well as dance teams in High School and Colleges across the nation. Is it an art form? Absolutely, some people paint on canvas and it last many years, and some people use space as their canvas, and their bodies are the paintbrush making their art more fragile and more fleeting than a painting could ever be. Dancing can also be used as a tool for political statements, a voice for those who move in such a way to express their joys or sorrows. Can dance be taught as a new skill? Yes, reasons being is because dance can be taught just as any other sport can be taught as a skill. Dancing and other sports are very different but similar as well. Dance is widely recognized as a holistic workout, providing for an exercise regime that satisfies the heart as well as the sole. Going much beyond the physical aspects of toning muscles as well as improving agility and cardiovascular fitness, dance offers on...
In conclusion, I have learned to work more exemplary with a team in various ways. To begin, I have learned how to combine forces and communicate, as well as work with other individuals. Secondly, teamwork helped me become a thriving leader. Last but not least, sportsmanship, like teamwork, inspired me to put in additional time and sweat to get incredible results. Brian Tracy once aptly stated “Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for you to reach the heights of your capabilities or make the money that you want without becoming very good at it.”
After I began to learn to dance ballet, I found out that these elegant movements actually require a lot of strength, flexibility of the bodies and brain’s participation to make it looked elegant. The dancers’ movements in the performance were so fluent and elegant and it is not hard to imagine how hard they had practiced, stretched and use the strengths to do all the ballet poses with their bodies look longer and longer. Their expressions also impressed me a lot. By looking at their expressions, the audience can easily understand the scenes and blend into the story. The performers actually not only are required to have good dancing skills but also are required to have some talents to be actors. Moreover, they also have to be good at expressing their feelings on the
Dancing is a form of art that allows many children to express themselves through body motion while developing many skills. Children throughout the world have been dancing since the day they began walking. When a child to take their first steps and puts together the simplest combination of movements, that would be considered as dancing. Music also plays a major role in the development of children understanding dance, because it is can be used as an accompaniment, and can help children get a better feel for the rhythm in dances. Over the past century educators have come to the conclusion that dance serves as a form of art, and should be taught in public schools and colleges to help the growth in children of all ages both physically, mentally, and academically.
My most favorite activities include entertaining an audience. Dance has been a part of my life for years. A way to grow and prosper into a better individual, dance involves training and skill. Taking jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical, dance has been a safe home for me to go to in need. During school and outside of school at Robin Dawn Academy, dance helps me in distress as well as work to becoming a better athlete. Cheerleading is also one of my favorite activities as well. Joining my sophomore year, cheerleading involves stamina and practice. Learning how to stunt and cheer on my
To many, dance is only an art. In reality, dance is much more. It 's an art, a sport, a way to express one’s self, a way to exercise, a way to get feelings out. Since the beginning of time, humans have used different types of dance to express themselves. There are many advantages to dancing, however there are also some disadvantages. Dance is one of the most physically and cognitively demanding sports.
Dancing has been a passion with me for a long time. My mother tells me how any melody had me dancing when I was a toddler. On growing up I tried learning some serious dancing and after trying both Bharat Natyam and Kathak, I decided to pursue Kathak seriously.
