Darkness that’s all I see, I float unknowingly in this darkness. The last vivid thing in my memory is running to get to my college campus from my car, I was extremely happy that I recently got my license to be able to drive anywhere I wanted to. The excitement made me forget about the car speeding towards me, I herd a loud car horn and immediately after, pain rapidly coarse through my entire body. I remembered hearing screams and sirens before I shut my eyes while saying “I hope the next life is more interesting than this one”, with that I breathed my final breath. I eventually woke up here and I have been floating in this sea of darkness like a piece from a shipwreck. My senses seemingly shut off except for my eyes which only can see darkness. …show more content…

I weakly replied “Yes, I had dreams of becoming a super hero saving people and my world from evil but especially I wanted to be able to protect my family with my powers. That sounds cliched” as I felt the crippling sensation of paralysis through my body. The voice replied in the same voice “I can give you a second chance to experience a more thrilling, yet more fulfilling life in another world”, I replied more excited yet weakly “thank you for this, but why me?” after hearing my reply she said “because I have seen many souls pass through here with similar problems of I wish I was still alive, I want another chance, etc. But I never did anything, due to my position and that it would affect all dimensions negatively, so to test the effects I secretly am going send you to another dimension to both help me and please your desire for something more“ I was about to speak, I felt a growing and pleasurable sensation when she said “So to start your new life, I will give you the powers of your dreams but remember, this experience will be more different than anything you have ever experienced!” I was about to question when everything suddenly went

    When I think about the steps of The Hero's Journey, I think back to myself; Am I on my own Hero’s Journey as I type this essay? A hero's journey comes in steps which are the Normal World, Call to Adventure, Refusal of the call, Mentor, Start the journey,Tests, Allies, Supreme ordeal, and lastly the Resolution.     The Hero’s Journey is a pattern of narrative that appears in novels, storytelling, myth, and religious ritual. It was first identified by the American scholar Joseph Campbell in his book A Hero with Thousand Faces. Campbell also discussed this pattern in his interview to Bill Moyers which was later published as a book The Power of Myths. This pattern describes the typical adventure of the archetype known as The Hero, the person who goes out and achieves great deeds. Campbell detailed many stages in the Hero’s Journey, but he also summarized the pattern in three fundamental phases: Separation, Ordeal, and Return that all heroes, in spite of their sex, age, culture, or religion, have to overcome in order to reach the goal. Alice in Wonderland, written by Lewis Carroll, provides a good example of the Hero's Journey. This story describes the adventures of Alice, a young English girl, in Wonderland. Although she lacks some of the stages identified by Campbell, she still possesses many of them that are necessary for a Hero to be considered a Hero.
