In this essay, you will see the resemblance between the lovely bones by Alice Sebold and my friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf. They both have aspects of killers, passion, and curiosity. The main theme of these of two books is passion. Passion gives people an intense desire or enthusiasm on all things they do. Jeffery Dahmer had the passion to kill innocent men. Mr. Harvey had the passion to rape and kill girls. And Jack Salmon had the passion to find his daughter’s murderer and get the justice she deserves.
Jack Salmon and Mr. Harvey have a connection. “The guilt on him, the hand of god pressing down on him, saying, you were not there when your daughter needed you.” (Sebold 65) The guilt on his conscience was killing him. He feels like he could have protected his daughter but he just was not there. Harvey have relating stories. “The gay urges were killing Dahmer inside. All he could think about is killing the man who jogged past his house every afternoon and having sex with him.” ( Backderf 78) The love Dahmer had for men was very peculiar during his time and age. “Mr. Harvey, my neighbor had beaten, raped, and murdered me.” (Sebold 7) Mr. Harvey had a joy for killing and raping women and little girls. Dahmer and Mr. Harvey were both psychopaths. Dahmer thoughts and actions led him to follow in Mr. Harvey’s footsteps.
