“Tattoos are like stories—they’re symbolic of the important moments in your life.” A few weeks before getting my first tattoo I was at church camp the summer before my senior year of high school. I had received Christ before and was really seeking to be baptized but, was too milquetoast to come forward and ask how it could be set up. Finally, Brother Tim, the Preacher asked if anyone would be interested in being baptized a few people including myself stepped ever so lightly forward. After, chatting with Brother Tim we decided to be baptized the Sunday we got back form church camp. Having many saved on Pinterest already, there were a few that would fit that perfectly. One was the word redeemed, which stood out above the rest was too plain. After talking to some tattoo artist they gave me the idea of adding the birds which was super lovely. After talking it over with my mom, she finally agreed to sign the consent forms and go with me. So, she called and set up an appointment and a vague description of the tattoo, hoping they would remember the drawing they showed me a few days before. The morning of the appointment nervousness swept over me. Backing out was NOT an option after all the persuading and begging. The waiting in the lobby part watching the people before me made it not seem so bad. Then this couple decided they were getting wedding band tattoos.
