My Favorite Place In My Grandpa's House

Catching chickens, card games, playing with cousins, and eating good food comes to mind when I think of my favorite place to be at. My grandpa’s house, which everyone in my family calls “Kahaluu” (simply because its located in the town of Kahaluu) was and still is a well-known place to me and everyone in my family. The saying, “There’s no place like home” definitely has a lot of truth and emotion behind it. Even though Kahaluu isn’t my home, I considered it to be. There was never a dull moment growing up at the Kahaluu house. With my big family constantly having parties at Kahaluu, it gave my cousins and I the chance to have a lot of fun. When I say I have a big family, I really mean I have a big family. My mom has five siblings and with them there are twenty two grandchildren. It was always a good time with that large amount of people in one house every Sunday. It was crazy but I loved it! Having so many cousins in my generation caused all of us to have epic playtime at Kahaluu. Since my grandpa lives in the country, it gave all of us cousins the opportunity to do all sorts of things.
One thing we all liked to do was to catch chickens. Chickens in Hawaii are like squirrels in Kansas, they’re everywhere! Literally. You can never go anywhere in Hawaii without seeing these brown and …show more content…

Growing up in such a family filled environment has shaped me to be the kind of person I am today. Family time is so important and I can’t wait for my future family of my own to get to experience what I have, while growing up at kahaluu. To share my favorite place with them will mean a lot to me. The memories of catching chickens with my cousins will always be with me. I’m so glad that I got to do one of the things I love with them. The saying, “There’s no place like home” has so much meaning and emotion behind it and I finally can understand what it truly
