When I first started the semester, I had absolute no Idea of what major I wanted to do. Now after taking this course I have been able to narrow it down to 2 majors that I am interested in taking. I had no idea that there was even a sports administration major. If the class never brought in the sports administration presenter I would have never known about the major. In this course I have learned more about my transferable skills, personality type, academic interests, personal values, skills and strengths. Before I started trying to find a major I took a test about my personality type. I found out that I am a sensor, thinker, perceiver and I’m in between extravert and introvert. In doing this it allowed be to get a better understanding …show more content…
Sports administration is a good choice because it connects with my interest, transferable skills, personality type and values. In sports administration you have to be able to work with diverse backgrounds, be able to work as a group, be able to make budget cuts and follow set procedures. Also you will have to be able to lead their athletic association and be able to speak with others. Which correlates with my two interest conventional and conventional. The transferable skills that are useful skills in sports administration are being able to work with diverse group of others and and being able to speak to small and large groups. Also, you have to be able to present information. In sports administration, you have to present information about budget cuts, fund raisers, and many more subjects related to sports to groups of people. The two main personality types that relate to sports administration is perceiving and extroverts. In sports administration, there is a lot of action and changes, such as like if roster changes, budgets, and rules. My biggest two values were family and God. If decide to choose sports administration, after college I would be able to get a job in Cincinnati, which allows me to be closer to my family. Also I would be able to continue my faith with God and my job would have no effect on that. The same for business but the work would be a little different I would be focusing more on products and
The few cons of a career as an athletic director are that you may have an erratic work schedule, may have heavy workloads at the beginning of sports seasons, and you have to be skilled in a variety of areas such as finances, management, and coaching. Why I am Suited for this Career? I have a sports background because of my sports participation in golf, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. I took a sports management class my senior year in high school.
As many of you might have guessed, my chosen career is to be an Athletic Trainer. When I tell
Working at a school would not have been a top choice but as an athletic director it seems fun and enjoyable. An athletic director oversees all school sports and makes sure that everyone follows the
With college right around the corner and taking a college course gave a real sense of how college classes are going to work giving me an edge over all of the other students going to college that didn’t take a dual enrollment course. Dual enrollment was honestly one of the best decisions I made in my academic career because like what I was saying this class taught me the inner workings of how most assignment are going to be turned in, what it means to be self-reliant/ on your own have no help with assignment from your parents, experiencing a course that only a handful of assignment rather than a ton of assignment ends up making up over eighty percent of your grade (getting you to work extra hard so you won’t fail) and finally that you have to actually interact with the professor/teacher if you need help or are having trouble with an
In my future, I want to be a softball coach. But in order to be fulfilled with my job selection, I have to love the job and want to actually do the job that I want to do. Because if I do not love the job, I would have no reason to put effort to try and put into the job. And if I did not actually want to do the job, then I would not do it correctly or with passion.
This course can best service me in my academic interest by helping me know what I want to do with my career ,I 'm still opened minded on what I want to do, something in the sports psychology field or physical therapy field would be great to go into. I have also thought of getting into medicine study more , and being in kinesiology would help a lot to decide that . Additional thoughts on the kinesiology class is I can 't wait to learn more in the class , and expand my knowledge In the kinesiology field, and help open up Many other career options In my
I have decided to choose Sports Marketer for my career profile. As a Sport Marketer you will be working to create advertising and promotions that draw participants, fans, and sponsors to the specific sport or team. They research and evaluate the consumers call for their product or service. Sport Marketers then provide their product or services in a way that consumers will be fulfilled so that way they come back and redo the experience. In this career there are multiple environments you could work in. For example, a person could either work for a marketing firm, university, or a professional team. The work hours change from off-season to season if you are working for a sports team. During the offseason a sports marketer hours typically are 9-5 Monday thru Friday, however,
You also have to be able to take criticism from people who may not know what they’re talking about. Athletic directors have to attend a monthly athletic conference meeting and have to prepare a master budget
The Head Coach of the JV Football team has given me the honor of being his Special Teams Coach. This job requires me to train his kickers, punters, long snappers, and holders. Starting August 1st I began working with a kicker for 2 hours per day and he has shown major improvement over the past month and a half. In the beginning, though he was very pessimistic about his success and it took a lot of motivation on my part for him to not quit. When I began training him we had to begin from the ground up because he had never kicked a football before in his entire life which was a major barrier to his success we had to get over. The head coach thought that I did such a good job with the first kicker that now I am training 3 kickers. My job includes
but I have a pretty good idea as to what type of job it will be. I would like to go into the field of a physical therapist and sports medicine, I fell I will enjoy this more than any other type of career just because I already have a lot of interest in it. Sports medicine involves athletes who are constantly training to be in the best physical shape they can be in. It involves athletes with rehabilitation and supplements that they can take to help either recover faster or to help them perform better on their playing field. A lot of high caliber athletes such as olympians are involved in sports medicine, because it is able to get you back into your sport, faster and with less likelihood of re-injury.
I knew from the very beginning I wanted to become a Game Day Operator however, I wasn’t sure if that was the right career for me. I am now in my Senior Year, and I am confident in this life long journey I have to embark. I can imagine myself organizing events behind the scenes, running around the stadium all day just for a two hour event and that is what I love doing. It is my final year, and I have all my classes situated except for one elective I am in the midst of having three options yet which one should I choose? “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” Theodore Roosevelt said it best every day and every hour people are
I have always had a passion for sports. That is why sports marketing is a perfect career for me. I have watched and participated in sports for all of my life. I continue to participate in them today because I find joy and relaxation in sports. I have also found other careers through research that I have conducted. The other careers that I have researched are very appealing. Although they are appealing, I am going to go with my passion and become a sports marketer. The other two careers that I researched were a lawyer and a physical education teacher. Both had good qualities, but neither equate to my love for sports.
I want to pursue Sports Management because I want to have a career in the business of basketball and I believe NC State is the ideal university to prepare me for this. When I say business of basketball many people tend to look at me with a puzzled look. I am referring to working in the office of a professional sports organization or working inside a college basketball program.
This course has helped me in many ways, especially time management, health, and money. Instead of having a very relaxing week and then panicking at the end of the week when everything is due, this course has helped me to plan out my studies. Planning them out helps me produce higher quality work and assists me with my stress problem. One thing that has helped a lot is getting short easy assignments or parts of assignments done in short periods of extra time I have. For example, instead of turning on that TV, wait ten minutes and knock out an assignment. Another asset for myself has been setting dates to have assignments done. Although these assignments may not be due on that day, getting them done and out of the way, makes more time for other
When I started this semester I already knew what major I wanted to pursue. I really liked having Mengwei as my instructor because he has a degree in Business Sports Administration which is the major I’m currently trying to pursue. I think having a learning community based mainly on business really helped me meet new people that I’m going to see throughout my time at Ohio University. The learning community also allowed me to have an idea of what I should expect in the future for my business major, it really was a big help, and I really enjoyed my time
