Introduction
The consequences of marriage can influence the society as a whole. It affects both the personal life and all other institutions as well. When marriages flourish the nation and the society will rise and when divorce comes along and the marriages fail the society falls apart as well. We can see the consequences of wrong marriages in next generations on our children. The most essential need of human is to have life. Life is more than breathing or eating, it’s about protection, secureness and helping one another. To live we have to love. People always wanted to protect their properties as well as their families and loved ones. Therefore, laws created marriage to create regulations and protect bloodlines. For instance, in ancient Hebrew a woman whose husband was diseased had to marry the husband’s brother thus keeping the wealth and properties in the same family (Sheri Stritof). Different periods of time in different cultures with varieties of religious beliefs have different definitions about the institution of marriage. For example in ancient Egypt the law gave women equal rights as men but it was not fully practiced therefore women had too much responsibilities to religion and marriage(Sheri Stritof). Throughout history and even some cases in today’s society, have arranged marriages for their children. In arranged marriages love is not the first thing and the man and woman would marry because of the economic reasons and financial needs. In some cultures love is not as important as traditions thus families keep traditions as their priority and children should marry whoever the family chooses to. One practically worldwide marriage tradition is the engagement ring which has come from ancient Romans. It is correct to compare it to one brain, making one decision and taking one action.
