Depression is the sad state of mind that controls not only the behavioral aspects of a human but also their physical Health. Feeling depressed is the normal reaction to loss, life's struggles, or self-esteem hurt but continuing in this state of mind leads to Physical ailments. Depression is feeling intense sadness that includes feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless for many days. These feelings leads to weakness and idleness in a person by stopping them from functioning normally, depression is something more than sadness that can also be clinical depression, which can be recovered with treatable medical condition.

Amelia Middleton had suffered from paralysis of the right arm and face. This might have occurred due to the damage in the nervous system, as Mrs. Amelia Middleton was under medication for lower gastrointestinal bleeding associated with Hemorrhoids. In her depression state of mind, she would have ignored the required precautions that should be followed with the medication prescribed. Drugs interference with the nerves function can also cause paralysis. Mrs. Amelia Middleton medical ailments were all associated with her depression state of mind. Studies have proven that the brain of people with depression actually functions different from that without depression. The brain regions that regulate behavior, sleep and appetite are not balanced in them. The mood function abnormally, and neurotransmitters is imbalanced.
There are various causes for depression such as genetics, environmental, psychological, and biochemical factors. Depression might be the result of combination of these factors;

The events like death of a loved one, particularly a child is the most difficult life event to deal with for an individual. Such losses increase the risk of depression.
Divorce or break up can also be cause of untreated depression.
Unemployment also leads to untreated depression, poor performance at work and loss of a job. Continued unemployment increases the risk for serious depression.
Combination of several traumatic events will ultimately drive a person into depression. Depression is most often triggered by multiple stressful events that occur within a short period of time like the financial problems, unemployment, and problems with family and friends. The hardship of normal life adds to the tendency of depression and proverbially breaks the confidence in a person; the final result of which the person gets depressed.
