The Birthmark, a literary piece written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, tells the story of the wedded couple Aylmer and Georgiana. There are many literary elements included in the story, an important example is the stories motifs. There are many motifs in The Birthmark, however the one with the biggest impact is the reoccurring colors or red and white. The colors red and white appear repeatedly in the story.
