The Most Dangerous Game vs. The Hunger Games

In the “Most Dangerous Game” General Zaroff can be described as a smart, dangerous, and precise person. General Zaroff is smart because he persuades Rainsford to play his “game”. This is seen in the story when it says “the choice rests entirely with you, but may I not venture to suggest that you will find my idea of sport more diverting than Ivans.” (Connell 52) This shows he is smart because Ivan practically whips you to death. He can also be described as dangerous because he lures people his island. An example of this is seen in the story, which states, Rainsford saw a flash of lights. The general chuckled, “they indicate a channel,” he said, “where there’s none: giant rocks with razor edges crouch like a sea monster.” (Connell 50) It shows the general is dangerous because he lures his prey to his …show more content…

Finally, General Zaroff is a precise person because he always makes his kill. In the text, this is shown when it says, “simply this: hunting had ceased to be what you call a ‘sporting proposition’ it had become too easy. I always got my quarry. Always.” (Connell 48) This shows he is precise because he never not killed his prey. Throughout the story Zaroff’s actions, thoughts, and feelings show that he is obviously a smart, dangerous and precise person. So, this person and the next are completely opposite but they both kill. Katniss is a different type of character in The Hunger Games because she is an affectionate, brave, and skillful person. Katniss is affectionate because she cried over Rue’s death. Rue died and she covered Rue in a bed of flowers. This makes Katniss different than General Zaroff because he didn’t care at all when Ivan died.
