Morris-Personal Narrative

MORRIS
Holy f-fuck! Doc stop, it hurts!
DR. GENTIL
Almost done.
Blood drips down Morris’s face, mixing with his tears. Dr. Gentil wraps up the procedure. He whistles an upbeat tune as he walks away.
MORRIS
W-why do you whistle doc, that’s c-creepy as hell.
Dr. Gentil washes his hands at the sink.
DR. GENTIL
I like to end the procedure on a positive note.
Dr. Gentil leaves the room. Ruth wipes the blood off of Morris’s face.
RUTH
You need anything?
MORRIS
No, I’m fine.
Ruth tidies up the area. John is back in his bed. Teef walks in wearing a Burberry scarf wrapped around her neck. She holds a pizza box and a wrapped gift in her hand. She glances at Morris, looking at his black eye and elevated leg.
A few moments later she eats pizza

Morris goes flying down the steps.
Yaffna sprints up the stairs, skipping two steps at a time. She meets Morris midway, grabbing onto his wheelchair. She pulls him up the remaining steps. Sandy is shaken up.
YAFFNA
Valk him down the steps.
SANDY
But I just dropped him.
YAFFNA
I don’t vant to end on a bad note, if Morris gets released you vill have to learn how to pull him up and down steps.
Morris’s animosity builds. Sandy holds onto Morris’s wheelchair as she walks down the steps. Morris closes his eyes, mouthing out a prayer.
A short time later, Sandy smiles, standing at the bottom of the staircase with Morris’s wheelchair next to her.
INT. REHABILITATION CENTER BEDROOM - NIGHT
John blasts the TV. Morris wears his headphones listening to motivational tapes. He holds up a vocabulary card mouthing out the word, not wanting to go to sleep.
INT. REHABILITATION CENTER BEDROOM - EARLY MORNING
Morris blinks his eyes multiple times trying to stay awake. While he mouths out the word: “happiness”.
INT. REHABILITATION CENTER BEDROOM - DAY
Ellen holds up a flashcard to Morris. Which reads: Extraordinary.
