Morgan McDearmid didn’t have to wait long to experience her first varsity home run. In her first Mother Lode League game, the Bret Harte freshman blasted a two-run home run over the left field fence for the Bullfrogs only runs in a 7-2 road loss to Linden. McDearmid finished the day going 2 for 3.

“It was really exciting,” McDearmid said of her home run. “I liked getting it early in the season and it gave me confidence to hopefully get a couple more throughout the season.”

McDearmid also had a good game in the circle. Although Linden scored seven runs, only one was earned. McDearmid struck out four in six innings of work.

On the season, McDearmid is hitting a cool .500 with 14 hits, 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored. She’s also smacked two doubles,
