Tuesdays with Morrie is about a man by the name of Morrie Schwartz who is a former college professor at Brandeis University located in Massachusetts. After he retires, Morrie is diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The disease causes the muscles to weaken and slowly start taking movement from certain parts of the body. One of Morrie’s former students, Mitch Albom, comes and visits him in Michigan. Mitch is a world famous author. Albom visits Morrie after seeing him on tv, and realizes that he broke a promise he told Morrie that he would keep. Mitch decided to start recording their conversations every visit. Morrie was slowly starting to accept the fact that he was dying, he never beat around the bush about it. That is why he made the book about life, because he knew what the truth was. The theme is clearly revealed when Albom visits Morrie after quite some time. So every Tuesday Mitch and Morrie meet up, and they discuss just whatever. The meaning behind it was to try to take the fact that Morrie was going to die soon.“I’m going to suffocate. Yes. My lungs, because of my asthma, can’t handle the disease. It’s moving up my body, this ALS. It's already got my legs. Pretty soon it’ll get my arms and hands. And when it hits my lungs… I’m sunk.” Morrie claims. Morrie tells Mitch what he wants people to know. He says people haven’t found the meaning to their life and they just rush everything. Morrie further explains. “Part of the problem, Mitch, is that everyone is in such a hurry. People haven’t found meaning in their lives.” People don’t take their time and don’t even know what they want to achieve and just get past life. Morrie was huge about love, he wanted people to love life and love others. Especially knowing that close ones love you and are there for you. “This is part of what a family is about, not just love.
