“1,461 college students, which is 11% of the population ranging from 18-19 year olds have abortions”. Miranda is a fellow classmate and she just discovered that she is 4 months pregnant. She is deciding whether to have an abortion and continue the program or quit the program and have the baby. I think Miranda should quit the program when she is no longer able to participate and have the baby. I think this because she chose to participate in consensual sex, having an abortion my lessen her chances of having a child in the future, and because there are quite a few programs that are designed to help pregnant women.

This choice represents False Dilemma, because reaching out to helping programs was not an original option for her to choose from. False dilemma can be found in chapter 5, on pages 187-189 and page 191. There are quite a few programs that help pregnant women and children. The following programs are the top six programs that are willing to help pregnant women. The following agencies are: Child Welfare Agency, Department of Health, Medicaid, State Breast and Cervical Cancer early detection program, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, and Food Stamps or Food Banks. The Child Welfare Agency provides: “family medical, food assistance, caregiving, cash assistance, housing assistance, and support for children”. Department of Health has a “State Maternity Home Fund, which pays for residential care and services”. Medicaid helps the pregnant women by covering their health and making them “eligible 60 days after pregnancy”. Medicaid also covers the child once their born, “as long as the mother is on Medicaid during pregnancy”. State Breast and Cervical Cancer early detection program, detects the programs early. The WIC program, covers the women “during their pregnancy, up to six weeks after their pregnancy, and up to six months after birth of the infant”, the “infants up to their first birthday”, the “children up to the age of 5”.
