Minny is one of the fundamental characters in writing The Help. She is the one that helps Abileen and Skeeter in convincing the other maids to have their stories published in the help. Despite been called dirty and toxic, these are the black maids that make life more cozy for their white employers. However, she is lucky to have a very friendly employer by the name Celia. who is not as mean and abusive as the other white employers. She even gets double the salary that she used to get in her previous job. She also gets some time off the weekend and leaves earlier than the other employees during the day. Milly and Celia seem to be just good friends which is unheard of in the society that they live. They have both saved each other’s lives. Minny is seen to be a character that stands out for what is right. She does not do what she is told but does what is right. She is not afraid of getting into trouble because of the things she says. Aibileen connects to her since both are born into a society that they don’t fit in. Mobley mother beats and despises her. Aibleen is the only one that helps Mobley in her tough situation. It is made clear that Mobley is not the only one that Aibileen has helped after suffering from abuse however she is the only one that she has tried to reach out to. Aibileen is seen as a courageous lady. This is proved by the fact that she dares to teach Mobley about social justice and racial parity. If found out, she risks being fired or face some hefty physical punishment. Death might also be a possible punishment. She does this to stop the moment whereby every black person is enslaved. She tries to break the cycle and myth that some races superior to others by teaching Mobley about the equal rights. Aibileen character resembles those of the Heroic Nelson Mandela.
