While Autonomy can be scary, it could help save the lives of innocent people as they can be programmed to follow the laws of war.

The book, I, Robot, has a series of short stories which show how the robots develop the ability to think and perform the tasks for the humans. The robots, however, have laws which they cannot break. The laws are, “A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm … A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law … A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. (Asimov 26). These laws seem promising and allows the reader to think that these robots must be harmless. However, the robots start to think for themselves as the story progresses. Keith Stanovich, author of The Robot’s Rebellion: Finding Meaning in the Age of Darwin expands on the concept of Darwinian ‘modules’ where it’s built into the human genes to make the gene last and survive instead of benefit an individual or an individuals groups. Stanovich claims that an evolution has been hardwired into our brains which he calls the TASS, The Autonomous Set of Systems, which is set of fast, consistent and mandatory behavior-triggering psychological mechanisms. In contrast, with the previous three articles which embody the development of robots as a useful tool for human growth, Headrick focus on the ethic and legal conflicts that will arise with the growth of robots. The creation of artificial intelligence in human lives will bring many unique situations. Headrick begins his article with an analogy of a driverless car in a parking lot. The military use of lethally autonomous robots (LAR) is not science fiction – it is happening right now. A robot is a mechanism guided by automatic controls. Autonomous robots are able to independently maintain stability and plan action. The first generation of military robots have operated under direct human control. The most well-known military robots are “drones” or unmanned aerial vehicles. The drone system currently in use is the unmanned aerial vehicles IAI Pioneer & RQ-1 Predator which can be armed with air-to-ground missiles and remotely operated from a command center. Drones have already been used by the U.S. military for unmanned air attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other war zones. (Merchant, 276).

Yes, robots can be a part of the future of our lives. Many of our past accomplishments can be credited to the integration of robotics in many different applications. Without robots, there would be a limit of what we would be capable of in the future. This includes the discoveries made by the rovers on Mars. Even though the use of robots has reduced some jobs performed by humans, one of the important benefits of using robots is performing dangerous tasks. As we continue to make advancements in the field of robotics, new applications will be discovered. With the help of robots we can discover more ways to make things better – at home and at the workplace. If we use our robots wisely, that can help us do dangerous jobs. Our lives can be improved and our knowledge expanded. I think that robots will be the future of how the world will work.
I don’t think there is any reason for these robots to have every ability that a human does. There is no way they are going to have the intelligence a human does. Artificial Intelligence is just going to bring more harm into our communities. We can’t trust the robots doing the “everyday” human activities, they are going to lead to unemployment, and will lead to laziness causing more obesity.
The future has a good outlook for new technology in the military. Many possibilities include the unmanned war, where all the fighting will be done by robots and computers. Other possibilities include, space travel, new fuels, vehicles, and more.
