For many years, doctors believed that the cause of migraines was the expansion of blood vessels outside of the skull. However, in recent years, the pain often associated with migraines is thought to be caused from the nerve fibers in the blood vessels becoming hyper sensitive. The extra sensitive nerve fibers cause normal blood flow in the vessel to feel like a painful throbbing sensation to the affected individual.
Over the years, migraines have been baffling to doctors as there has never truly been a real cause to them, now though, doctors have discovered what few causes may be; The first is that there is an underlying central nervous disorder that sets off a migraine episode when triggered. Some triggers can be the smell of certain strong perfumes while another is the flickering of fluorescent lights and another is changes in the environment surrounding them. Triggers can range from multiple categories and be a couple different things within them from food triggers to visual triggers. An example of such triggers are fermented chocolates and excessive amounts of caffeinated drinks to flashing lights like sunlight shining through trees while driving or a computer screen in a dark room. The most basic definition of stress is that your reaction to change requires you to adjust or respond to it. These changes can happen physically, mentally, or emotionally. Some of the common causes of stress include death of a loved one, large crowds, confrontations and work and/or personal life. A few ways to cope with stress and possibly help lower the chances of a migraine attack are asking others to help/assist you, expressing emotions as to not keep them pent up inside of you, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy
