According to the supplier section in the Microsoft code of conduct, it state that “Microsoft suppliers must adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior and regulatory compliance and operate in the best interest of Microsoft. Suppliers are expected to provide high-quality services and products while maintaining flexibility and cost-effectiveness.” This is a very solid statement that tells customers that the company would have a good service and products ready for the customers. This is a normal ethical problem that almost every company has encounter, because every company has employees who work for their company. The employees may use the working time during a normal work day to do other things, such as doing some personal activities, taking long breaks, leaving early, and other stuffs. Since Microsoft is a multinational company, it could be a major problem because some other country may have a different culture and traditions. In those cultures, employer may accept late arrival and leaving early. As everyone knows time is a money for a business. The more time people spend on working, it would result in higher outcomes that will lead to higher profits. The company needs to be very careful when talking about ethics, because people view and define ethic differently. The ethic may be just what is right and wrong. So they have to be open and respect other people ideas and opinions. The possible solution for this problem is to set up a standard rule that all workers must be on time, and have a limit for an excuses. As the company starting to grow bigger and become a multination corporation, they need to hire more worker to work in for them. This workforce will be diverse and contain many people with different values, beliefs, cultures, religions, and behavior. These people would be importance for the business because they will be a key factor to determine whether the company will run smoothly or fall apart. If the employees cooperatively working together, then there would be no problem. The conflict of interest will occur when the workers cannot separate their own interest from their work roles. This will create a problem that can lead to bigger problems such as employees’ protest and will end up making a bad reputation for the business. The possible solution for this problem is to set up a strong, solid rule that show what the company expect and its consequence if this problem occur. This would stop and prevent this problem from happening.
