Microsoft is a technology company that focuses on software, electronics and services (Facts About Microsoft, n.d.) and was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen (Weinberger, 2015). The company employees over 100,000 (Yahoo Finance, n.d.), and is the top developer for personal-computer software (Zachary & Hall, 2017). In 2016, Microsoft’s Xbox One was responsible for 26% of the gaming market share with a total of $9.1 billion in sales (Takahasi, 2017). The corporation has been so successful it has been able to expand globally with location in England, China, India and the United States (Zachary & Hall, 2017). One area Microsoft has been able to effectively integrate into is the gaming industry. Nearly two decades ago, Microsoft released its first gaming console called the Xbox (Marshall, 2013). This leads to the product that this marketing plan is centered around; Microsoft latest video game console the Xbox One S. Launched last year, the it is an upgrade from the original Xbox One, that provides a smaller design and several other features (Lapsen, 2016). Its target audience cover a wide range; from kids to adult gamers (Xbox One Games for Kids, n.d.).
