INTRODUCTION The purpose of the microbiological experiment was to applying different types of techniques and methods learned in microbiology lab to a bacteria so that it may be accurately and precisely identified. “The words accurately and precisely are not the same in microbiology, accurately has the meaning of if repeated the same answer continues to be the result, precisely has the meaning of the correct answer.” “Microbiological experimentation often involves test that determine the ability of an organism to use or produce some chemical, or to determine the presents or absence of a specific organism in a sample.” The scientific methods that were performed aided in the precise identity of the bacteria. Since September we have studied different types of bacteria in lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with the readings in the Laboratory manual. Many of these organism we have come into contact with a one time or another and continue to do so. Identification of these bacteria is necessary because everything we do such as eating, drinking, cleaning, and healthcare, just to name a few, effects all living things ???? The …show more content…

Proteus vulgaris is a rod-shaped Gram-negative chemoheterotroph bacterium. The size of individual cells varies from 0.4~0.6μm by 1.2~2.5μm. P. vulgaris possesses peritrichous flagella, making it actively motile. It inhabits the soil, polluted water, raw meat, gastrointestinal tracts of animals, and dust. The invader P. vulgaris has numerous factors including fimbriae, flagella, outer membrane proteins, lipopolysaccharide, capsule antigen, urease, immunoglobulin A proteases, hemolysins, amino acid deaminases, and, finally, the most characteristic attribute of Proteus, swarming growth, enabling them to colonize and survive in higher organisms (Rozalski et al.1997 and Emody et
