Relentless; defined as being oppressively consistent. Life throws you relentless tasks, but can you remain persistent yourself? Meredith Grey, a character in Grey’s Anatomy, is nothing but incessant. Many tragic events have changed her life and I find myself relating to her in several ways. She has taught me that no matter what tragic things happen, life goes on. As said by Ellis Grey, “the carousel never stops turning”. Grey’s Anatomy is a TV series about a group of surgeons and their day to day tasks. Not only is it about the surgeries they perform and their technology advancements, but all of the characters’ personal lives and relationships. Meredith Grey is the main character in this series. She went through her Mother’s decline and then her death. Ellis wasn’t very supportive, but this death drove Meredith into her work studies. Meredith also had a half sister but did not find out till she was in her mid twenties. She found out because Lexi, her sister, started as an intern in the same hospital. Lexi was in the same plane crash as Meredith. With horrible injuries from the plane crash, Lexi and her boyfriend, Mark, did not live. Meredith was most impacted by her husband’s death. Derek was hit by a semi after saving four people who were in a car crash. He entered a small hospital where one intern forgot to get a Head CT which resulted in his death because of substantial brain injury. The deaths she has encountered has made her more driven to make her time on earth worth it. Meredith also learned to honor them and dedicate things to her loved ones. One example of this is that Ellis had Alzheimer's. Meredith did a work study trying to find a cure for it. I am impacted by this greatly. About three years ago I had the first big death in my family, my Grandpa Ken. I had just recently had the opportunity to know my grandpa better. Ken had many health problems through his life. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away two weeks later. I had a rough time with his death and didn’t know quite how to deal with it. Through the years I have gotten stronger and have learned to use his death as motivation. Everything I do in sports is all for him. On every pair of athletic shoes I have, there is a white ribbon with my Grandpa’s name on it. This reminds me each and every time I lace up my shoes to put in my best effort to honor him. I have learned that my time here on earth is not guaranteed and I should make the best of
