There is almost no debate on what the most dangerous book in the world is; many people agree that Mein Kampf is the most hate-filled, horrid book of all. It was written by Adolf Hitler, the Nazi ruler who killed millions of people in the Holocaust. He was born in Austria, but grew up to become chancellor of Germany. In Mein Kampf, he details his plans for a new and improved Germany by creating the Third Reich. It was published in 1927, and was entitled “The National Socialist Movement.” According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the second volume “...outlines the political program, including the terrorist methods, that National Socialism must pursue both in gaining power and in exercising it thereafter in the new Germany” (“Mein Kampf”). Before long, almost everyone in Germany was reading Mein Kampf. At one point, it was even common to give the book as a gift at weddings, birthday, or other holidays. The intense passion for the book can be demonstrated in the Book Thief when Hans Hubermann Jr., an extreme Nazi supporter, sees the main character Liesel reading a book and asks, “And what trash is this girl reading? She should be reading Mein Kampf” (Zusak 105). Again, this emphasizes the importance of Mein Kampf to many of Hitler’s loyal followers. The amount of people
