I am interested in joining the Medical Career Exploration Program because being part of the program will allow me to interact with different areas of the medical field. This is a valuable chance for me to experience how it is like to be a physician at a prestigious hospital. I hope that my communication skills will continue to grow with the program and assist patients, visitors, and family feel satisfied and proud to be part of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. My trip to Beijing, China and Inner Mongolia in 2012 let me realize how important it is to communicate and interact with people of different backgrounds and culture. I was able to build strong and long lasting friendships with elementary school students and faculties as an international mentor. By interacting with a foreign community, I gained a beneficial opportunity of planting and raising field crops to support the local villages. …show more content…

The biochemistry major has provided me with essential knowledge of professionalism and cautiousness in a medical work space. Working in a hospital requires meticulousness to avoid mistakes that could affect both patients and public safety. My experience in lab settings has proven how vital it is to be detail oriented, especially when dealing with toxic chemicals. These experiences enable me to be well adapted to a health orientated setting. To be given the opportunity of joining the MCEP, I will truly feel and experience what it’ll be like for myself in the future after college. I strongly believe that a program dedicated to building a foundation for future physicians and nurses to become well adapted beforehand, is a great place for me to start to achieve my forthcoming medical career
