The following movie was based on actual events. McFarland USA is an inspirational movie that is filled with drama. Disney produced a true story of school sports, and all of the ups and downs that come with it. This dramatic true story will not only take you on a journey but will also show you the true meaning of hard work, love, and dedication. McFarland USA is a feel-good and fairly predictable movie. It tells the story of a coach who has lost his mojo and is looking for a way to redeem himself, and to do that he takes a group of kids that do not come from much and terns them in to a champion cross country team. The movie touches base with the issues of race and equality. With the main character being white and privileged, and the athletes being Hispanic and under privileged. …show more content…

When an incident with a player occurs he if left without a job. When he finds himself unable to find work in Idaho because no other school district would hire him, he decided to move his wife and two daughters to McFarland, California. The rural town of McFarland is known as a farm town, and is predominately Latino; they were the only town that would hire him as a teacher. The White family does not seem to fit in with the rest of the town. Not only does Jim have a lot to learn about his students, but they also have a lot to learn about him. Jim White does not just want to be a P.E. teacher; he wants to be a coach. He soon realizes that the football team is not worth his time and effort. When he thought he would never coach again, he saw a talented runner among his students and decided to start a cross country
