Although at the end of McCandless’ trip he became extremely ill, he didn’t regret abandoning his life and coming to live in the wild. On August 18, 112 days after he began his way into the wild, his adventure came crumbling down. He showed no pity, he left a note explaining that his trip into the wild was no disappointment, “I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE LORD. GOODBYE AND MAY GOD BLESS ALL!” (219).
