From the Mayan Complex to the American Southwest the presence of small copper bells has been found in the archaeological record. Over various sites that cover North American to Mesoamerica thousands of copper bells have been unearthed. Of these numbers, 672 of these have been found in the American Southwest, and have been included in 113 different sites within the four corners region in the north, and parts of northwest Mexico (Boyce, 3,36). During the 1899 excavation under the supervision of George H. Pepper, Chaco Canyon’s Pueblo Bonito yields “…a small number of bells…” among the many artifacts unearthed this season (Noble, 29). The Mystery of Chaco Canyon introduces viewers to a very complex structure that was built by Ancient Pueblo Indians. Although there is no language to explain the structure’s meaning and purpose, researchers were able to read their architecture as a language. Four themes that were extracted from the structure were, the native’s immense understanding of astronomy, the use for the structure, the level of spirituality that the structure represents, and migration from Chaco Canyon.

The Liberty Bell is a symbol of American independence and is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The government paid around 100 pounds for the bell (A&E Television Networks). It was once rung in the tower of the Pennsylvania State House, which is now called the Independence Hall. This bell was used to call the lawmakers to meeting and the people of the town to hear the reading of the news. Isaac Norris is the person that ordered for a bell in 1751, and on the first ring the bell cracked. Once it was cracked, John Pass and John Stow melted it down and casted a new one right in Philadelphia. In ancient history the Aztecs and Mayans practiced tongue piercing as part of rituals. Tongue piercing was done because Aztecs thought it was a way to communicate with the gods. The Mayan’s also practiced tongue piercing as a way to demonstrate courage and virility.

When after reading “Mayan Protocol” I strongly agree with this protocol because how I see the situation at hand is once the inmate is dead they have no use for their organs when being put underground or being cremated. They is a lot of steps and precautions that need to happen for this protocol to even begin. What is needed for this protocol to happen is for the courts to have already made their decision about what would happen to the inmate so then after the fact they can start discussing about the organ donation. In this discussion the inmate must agree on the donation and then the process can start to begin.
A farmer in the late 19th century, upon plowing his land near Carthage, Alabama, discovered an object buried in the earth. From the soil, he removed a large stone disk, polished and flawlessly round. The disk was about 12 inches in diameter with small-notched edges. One side displayed incised globular lines and the flip side was “a strange engraving showing an open hand with what looked like an eye peering from it. Encircling the hand-and-eye image were two entwined rattlesnakes with horns and long tongues.” The farmer had previously found tools pieces of pottery, but he had never seen an object such as this (Blitz 2008:1).
