“Be a voice, not an echo.” Standing up for what you believe in is you defending others that are not able to or are scared to do it. You give them a purpose to also stand up and join. In history people were afraid to voice out what they believe in until that one brave person inspires them to. Katniss Everdeen rebelled against the Capitol, Martin Luther King Jr. was the voice of the Civil Rights Movement, and a whole variety of people stand up for LGBTQ rights. Katniss Everdeen does not believe in the Capitol’s annual Hunger Games. She rebels against them numerous times. It is punishable to go to the other side of the fence, but Katniss risks it to hunt for food, since they face food shortages and mistreatments from the leader of the the government. The food shortages serve as a way to control the people in the districts, The Hunger Games are also a way to control the districts, to make them fear them and to not rebelled against them. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Albany Movement, Birmingham campaign, March on Washington, Selma voting rights movement and "Bloody Sunday", Chicago open housing movement, Opposition to the Vietnam War, and Poor People's Campaign. “I Have a Dream,” by King is an inspirational speech that helped the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. has won a variety of awards, and he has a holiday. If no one stood up for African Americans rights, there will still be a high rate of racism, and segregation.
