Martin Luther King Jr. was trying to make the world better. I think he would be a
great president if he was alive today. But I think he would be ashamed of the world
today because of all the racism that is happening like after Donald Trump’s election.

Some people show signs like“Black lives matter”but I think it should say “All lives
matter.” There was a test to see all about racism. A black person help up a sign that
said Black lives matter. And people cheered and people yelled along with him. Same
street but a white person with a sign that said “All lives matter.” That person was
threatened and chased off the street. What was the difference? Racism was the
difference.
“As we walk, we must make a pledge that we shall always march ahead.”(MLK , I have a Dream Speech). Martin Luther King JR. was a remarkable man. He helped the community like no other did. He is a great character and role model towards all African Americans and others. He shows bravery, kindness, and has the eyes to make change happen. He was an inspiration to many less fortunate people than him, and people who had more than him. Do we have the bravery and courage that this man had? Do we have the eyes for change? MLK had something many didn’t. MLK made a change because something was bothering him in his community, he brought people together, was an inspiration to many because of his patience, and had a dream.
Throughout all the great civil rights leaders, I personally believe that Martin Luther King was the greatest of them all. What king achieved during the little over a decade that he worked in civil rights was remarkable. "There are few men of whom it can be said their lives changed the world" from wikipedia. Using Mohanda Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolence King gained the power of many citizens respect which lead him in success in, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Birmingham Protest March, and breaking the barrier to allow black people vote rights.
In December of 2014, Eric Garner was killed after being accused of selling untaxed cigarettes, he was a black, asthmatic and unarmed man. Officers put Garner in a chokehold and even after garner stated “ I can’t breathe” officers did not back down. Since the incident, there has been an increase in the death of minorities with police encounters. The Black Lives Matter movement was established in order to bring awareness of police brutality against minorities. In “ I yelled Black Lives Matter at A Trump Rally”by Sierra Thoma, she recollects a caucasian man yelling “all lives matter” in opposition to “ black lives matter”.
Martin Luther King Jr. is considered the formative figure in the modern fight for the civil rights movement and fought for racial equality with something much stronger than tolerance. He fought for the equal rights for all people of every background. Being a leader of racial equality and spoke up for the wrong doing of society, but also the peoples' actions towards making America a better place and equal opportunity. The reason he is so unique is because he was non-violent in his goals. King had great moral and philosophical purposes by speaking out in the public of the conflicts that was going on during that time and finding ways to overcome those conflicts in a peaceful
Our country needs leaders and there is no doubt that Martin Luther King Jr. was wanting a leader as well. Whether Barack Obama is the answer to his "dream" or not remains to be seen. Looking back if we were to move toward a government were everybody could be guaranteed equal treatment under the law, it would be great, but it is just not possible because there will always be someone that comes along and changes the way a law should be. However, what cannot be changed is the way people should be treated under that law and that is fairly. Everybody was created equal and everybody should be equal with each other no matter the situation.

The topic I choose to talk about is Martin Luther King Jr. because of his strong wisdom and bravery. I really admire Martin Luther King’s way of handling things in life because when he was no longer allowed to play with his friends at an young age and also when he was sent to jail for leading a march through Birmingham he was always peaceful about things. The way he chose to look at people who disrespected him and his race was amazing because many people couldn’t do something like that. He showed the world that you didn’t have to condone in violence for you to get your point across or if you’re not treated fairly. Racism within the black community is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. In the black community, African-Americans are discriminating against each other, putting those with lighter skin complexions against those whose skin is darker. In the African American community, it’s like a battle of the skin tones. This type of racism is also known as colorism, the belief that those with lighter, fairer skin are treated with a higher respect than those with darker skin, this issue has been happening for a long time within the African American community. This form of racism is more offensive, severe, and different than the common traditional racism.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders to ever live. Through his empowering speeches, he made a huge impact on the world for the equality of all races. Throughout King’s life, he showed everyone how he believed equality should be acquired. With his peaceful protests and amazing speeches, he influenced people both during his time and after he passed. Many believe that King’s work in the Civil Rights Movement was the final push that America needed to finally respect people no matter their skin color.

Both Dr. Martin Luther King and President John F. Kennedy were the change they wished to see. They didn’t worry about the consequences or the repercussions. They were tired and fed up, but most of all they did not want their children to grow up in such a hard and harsh generation. Unlike some civil rights leaders, Dr. King was adamantly against violence.
