Mars: it’s our closest neighbor in the solar system. It’s also called “The Red Planet”, it’s home to the biggest mountain in the universe, and in ten years, Mars’s ground is set to be touched by human boots. A private company called Mars One plans to put humans on Mars by the year 2026. Mars One isn’t perfect, though. The project to colonize Mars is not a good idea, not because it’s a fantastical plan, but because the company carrying out the idea is not ready for the mission. The company also doesn’t have the required technology yet. Mars One desperately needs a contractor who knows how to build all the satellites, rovers, and space habs that the colonists will need. Gigantic “smart rovers”, a robot assistant, and a vehicle made for Mars’s rugged terrain are all examples of technology that might be needed on the Mars mission. Mars One needs to step up their game if they hope to be properly prepared for their adventure to the red
