And today joining me is the widely known traveller and merchant from the middle ages timeline, Marco Polo. Polo is here to give all the insider details to his life and travels, so without further ado, I give you MARCO POLO! (Clap, clap, clap) MARCO POLO: Ciao, mi chiamo Marco Polo. Today I will be sharing my life story! So let’s begin. INTERVIEWER: So Marco what can you tell me about your childhood and early life? I was born in Venice Italy, in the year of 1254. The year before I was born, my father Niccolo and his brother (my uncle) Maffeo Polo travelled to Asia for trading. My childhood is mostly a blur, not much is known. However, my mother died some time before I was 15. I do remember that most of my childhood was spend with extended family, with my father not being there and my mother passing away when I was very young. …show more content…

So the Polo brothers returned to Venice, while they waited for a new Pope to be appointed. INTERVIEWER: and tell me what happens next? These stories pretty much inspired me to travel with my father and uncle. Had I never heard these stories, I would not be the famous traveller you know me as today. When Pope Gregory the 10th was appointed, and I joined my father and uncle in delivering Kublai Khan’s message. The Pope agreed to give us the holy oil but could not spare the 100 men. Instead he gave me and my father and uncle two Friars. These people were Christian Preachers, also known as Dominican Monks.
