Recommended: Music education and academic performance

I would be a great section leader for many reasons. I care about the program, I care about the people, and I am responsible. Firstly, I care about the program. I am in the concert, jazz, and marching band. I love all of these programs more than I can say. I have been accepted into New Tech Skill Center which means that I will be gone for three periods a day. Most kids would give up on band and say that it’s impossible to do both with the amount of credits I need to graduate. But I decided to look at it a different way. Band is so important to me that I decided that there had to be a way to do both. I am now taking two independent study courses for english and history because I can’t imagine my life without band. You can trust me that I’m not going to ditch you as soon as things start getting difficult. One of the biggest reasons I care about this program so much is because of all the wonderful people that I have met in band and all the amazing experiences I’ve had because of it. All I want is to make sure that other people get those same experiences. This last marching season during those three days of band camp I made it a priority to learn the names of every single freshman coming into the horn line. And in that short amount of time I did just that. I want the incoming freshman, and everyone else for that matter, to feel like they belong somewhere.
