Soccer is one of the most popular and most viewed sports around the world. Modern soccer, or soccer as we now know it, started in England, the home of Barclays Premier League. The Barclays Premier League is known to be one of the most competitive, overenthusiastic, and unpredictable league in the world. The football club that I love most in the league is Manchester United, or The Red Devil - the nickname of them. Man Utd is the biggest and most famous football club not only in England but also worldwide. The club was founded in 1878 but not as Manchester United but as Newton Health. It has the largest fan base than any other clubs in the world with the number of 65 million supporters. Their stadium - Old Trafford, located in Greater …show more content…
It is consistently full to capacity for every home game, which is about 77,000 fans. Manchester United is the most successfull football club over the last 20 years, accumulating 20 major honours. The 1998-1999 season was the most successfull season in the history of the Manchester United Football Club. After finishing the previous season without winning any titles, United won a treble of trophies : Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, the first side in English Football to achieve such a feat. This success is mainly contributed by the good management of Sir Alex Furguson, who was the manager from 1986 to 2013, with nearly 27 years of leading the club. But the team had periods of time when it was not as prosperous as it is now. The Munich disaster was a loss that any The Red Devil supporter could not forget. The Munich air disaster occurred on 6 February 1958 when British European Airways flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich-Riem Airport, West Germany. On the plane was the Manchester United Football Team, nicknamed the " …show more content…
Actually, I had known a little bit about football before. But to admire a football team is the thing that I had never thought about. Things happened coincidently. One evening, when I was watching TV, I switched over the channel and suddenly I saw a match. It was just a replay match between Manchester United and Wigan. That game Man Utd winned 5 goals difference. They blew the competition away. I had heard about Man Utd when the boys in my class talked about football. But I had never thought that one day I would adore them. I watched the rest of that match passionately and a thought existed in my mind :" Intersting ! Football attracts me so much. Maybe this will be my hobby soon! ". And in that match, I saw an old man, nearly 70 years old, standing outside the pitch line, his mouth constantly shouted, directing his players. Sometimes he glanced at his watch, and turned to complaining to the referee about something. The days after I tried to find out about The Red Devil as much as possible. I spended weekend watching the club playing. I memorized the names of all the players and positions where they played. When they winned a match, they made my day. Conversely, if they lost a game, I would be upset with everything and maybe cry. After each game, I went to class and talked about each game with the boys in class. Man Utd has become an integral part of my life. I am willing to wake up
This experience has taught me many valuable lessons. I learned that it is important to fight and work for what you believe in. I have learned more skills than soccer, such as teamwork and communication skills. I have learned that it's good to broaden one's horizon by meeting and becoming friends with people from other schools and communities. I'm looking forward to the soccer district and regional, and we hope we qualify for the state championship.
At that point, "none of the 2,000 spectators at the game could have guessed that they were present at a historic occasion, for that evening marked the first of what was to become the most famous, long-lasting – and bitter – sporting rivalry in the history of football" (Murray 4). Almost a hundred years

As we are talking about various events that has happened have created lots of inspiring and jaw dropping moments that people will remember for ages. These are ‘where were you’ moments that defines where were you when this thing happened or what were you doing when it happened? The experience that people get inside Wembley is something heavenly that you cannot experience elsewhere. Many moments such as the underdogs winning, a band performing a song, players scoring amazing goals and many more you get chills down your spine.
After four years of a new team every season, I went into my first practice of my fifth soccer season expecting the same to be true. Play on this team for one year and then be randomly placed on a different one the following year. Little did I know this team, especially the coaches, would leave a lasting impact on my life. I gained an invaluable support system that has stuck by my side for an upwards of nine years.
Before birth football seemed like it would be a factor in my life. My uncles and cousins were key players of their high school football teams. Even though they were a factor I developed a love for the game myself. The drive from my family made me want to go harder.
... coaching of Jose Mourinho. However, there is much more than just football between these two teams, but when they face each other the whole world is watching.
In the long history, the club has won most trophies for First Division (prior 1992) and England Premier League (EPL) with 20 trophies in total. For FA Cup, Manchester United shared record for most cups with Arsenal with 12 times. The team has also been crowned 3 times the European Cup / UEFA Champions League. (Manchester United Trophy Room) The most successful season was the 1998-1999 when they won “The Treble” (EPL, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League in one season) “thanks to the emergence of some special home grown talent, namely Gary Neville, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt joining Giggs in the mix.” (Smith par.2) In that unforgettable season, the team managed to score 128 goals in 63 games, averaged 2 goals per contest. “Manchester United also become the first English team to head the International Federation of Football History and Statistics ' top 100 teams thanks to their amazing 1998/99 season.” (“Manchester United 1999 the Treble”
The FA spent decades, making the game better and developing rules and regulation for the games. The sport was spread all over the world, as far away as Australia and Canada. The FA brand of soccer stayed popular until the establishment of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) in 1904. Today FIFA, being the sport’s international body consists of more than two hundred nations. All these nations seek to send their best team to the FIFA World Cup every four years (Auerbach). Who are fans? Why are they around and what is their purpose? To answer that question as clearly as possible, I had to take the time to think. What kind of fan am I? Fans are everywhere. Sports enthusiasts, in particular, love a specific sport or a certain club/team. They come from every country and support every possible activity. I'd like to think that sports fans are there to support their favorite teams and show their pride. Take the world's largest sport, football (also known as soccer in the United States). This game has the largest participation in the world and has the largest fan based communities. These followers are not there just because they want to see people play; it is a way of life. Among the most predominate soccer teams is Manchester United. This English club team has the rowdiest soccer fans I have ever seen. We thought that American Football fans are crazy? Well just think about how extreme they are with their entire bodies painted and the chants and cheers to support the...

Just before having to be shut down for good, the club received a sizeable investment from J. H. Davies, the managing director of Manchester Breweries. Legend goes that Harry Stafford, the club captain, was showing off his prized St. Bernard dog at a club fund-raiser, when Davies approached him to buy the dog. Stafford declined, but was able to persuade Davies to invest in the club and become club chairman.[11] It was decided at one of the early board meetings that the club required a change of name to reflect the fresh start they had been afforded. Manchester Central and Manchester Celtic were among the names suggested, before Louis Rocca, a young immigrant from Italy, said "Gentlemen, why don't we call ourselves Manchester United?"[12] The name stuck, and Manchester United officially came into existence on 26 April 1902. Davies also decided it would be appropriate to change the club's colours, abandoning the green and gold halves of Newton Heath, and picking red and white to be the colours of Manchester United.
